Question about GE Profile PSW26P Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

How do I reattache the DA61-03561 Guide Ice Full lever?

My GE Profile plastic lever that signals the ice is full needs to be placed back into the ice maker assembly, but I can't figure out how. Also, throughout the day and night, my refrigerator is very noisy - a knocking sound.

I have the same problem.
You will likely need a new one.
You can verify this as follows.
Remove the Ice catcher (using the lever on the right side).
There is a white Philips new the lower left front of the hollow area.
This screw holds down a long plastic cover.
After the screw is removed the cover can slide 1/2 inch towards the doors, then it can be removed.
Notice the little white hooks on the back that slide onto tabs (for when you replace this).
Reach to the back left of the hollow area - there is a cable that goes to the ice maker.
Free this cable.
On the top of the ice maker there is a little tab.
Press this tab and the ice maker can be slid forward 1/2 inch, then it can be lowered.
On the right side of the ice maker you will see a depression with a square depression in it, with a Philips screw in the center. This is where the Ice Full guide goes. You will likely notice it has broken off.

UPDATE: I tried to buy the part DA61-03561 but was told it was an integral part of the ice maker ($145) and could not be purchased separately. The "Guide Ice Full" part is not even shown on the diagram of the part. It is clearly an easy to install (one screw) seperate part, but it was "not possible" to order it that way. After talking to two parts people and a customer service person they offered me the ice maker for $90, then after talking to a customer service supervisor (and mentioning "class action" a couple of times) they offered me the whole ice maker for $45 - which I accepted. I will bet the ice maker full guide will be redesigned on the new unit. I will update this status when I get the part. I am concerned that some little old lady is being charged $150 + $100/hour to fix this problem.

*Firstly - the knocking sound is from the ice maker trying to make more ice when the container is already full. You have to turn off the ice maker or empty it regularly until you fix the ice full detector problem.

I just got my full new ice maker (listed for $145 got it for $45) and there is only one appearent difference. The part that broke (the ice full detector arm) has been completely redesigned. Otherwise the unit appears to be identical.

I suspect this was a design flaw and that GE knows it. If you really push them, I would bet you could get the updated ice maker for even less than $45 - but it was not worth me fighting them any more.

I replaced the ice maker unit and it works fine so far.

What is the problem that ice maker is not working. Why the ice cube cannot make? Even I changed the water filter.

There are two solenoid valves usually at the bottom of fridge in the back. These valves control the water to ice maker and water dispenser. They are replaced as a set. This is the first place to look. Generally this valve goes bad and solenoid does not open when ice maker signals it to open.

My GE Profile ice maker has stopped making ice. It feels like there is ice in the tray but it doesn't drop into the ice bucket. Any ideas?

There is a lever that goes up and down to measure the amount of ice and shuts down the production if the lever is on high. Make sure the lever is down and see what happens 12 hours later. If you still don't have ice, it will need professional work. So call your service agent where you purchased it to get it checked if that happens ok. Good luck.

Ice maker will not make ice

hELLO THERE:
There's no ice If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order: It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

Ice maker problem

something has to give when it too hard to turn. if ice cubes are ice to each other it could cause this . sometimes this is caused by water leaking from ice maker into the bucket . look for a bad water valve or a ice maker that is not lever or has bad tray . . ****

Icemaker leaking

Check two things.

1: see if you have ice buildup in the water inlet tube above ice maker, if you do chance are the water valve is bad, if not,

2: see if you have icicles hanging from bottom of ice maker, if you do you have a bad ice maker.

Either way, will need full model number and serial number both to get you the right part numbers for parts.

Ice maker on GE Profile quit working. Emptied tray of ice and put back in, not producing any ice.

Make sure the "Full" actuator is in the down position. Sometimes when the ice tray is removed, the full actuator flips up to stop ice production.
Hope this helps.
