Question about Olevia LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

My LT42HVi will shut down the power and volume after a short period (less than 2 hours). I have to unplug and re-plug it back in to work again. The power button won't even work until I re-plug. Tina

I had the simular issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

HTC wont turn on

HTCs have a known power glitch that affects many of their model of phones. Unplug the phone. Hold down volume down, volume up and power. Do not let go. Plug in power. Hold those three buttons down for NO LESS THAN three minutes. You may see a flashing red light in the process. Once you see solid red, it is in a charging state. Allow it to charge for an hour or so and then attempt to power it up normally. You may want to get a quality replacement battery from eBay or a respected vendor, since chances are you other battery is toast. Li-Ion batteries don't like to sit in a drianed state for very long without loosing their mojo.

My Onkyo 808 shuts down when i raise the volume, and when I try to set it up using the micophone.

Amps shut down in most cases because the receiver is detecting and impedance (below 4 ohms) that might damage the amplifier. Do a quick check of the speaker connection and look for wires that might be shorted to the frame or have crossed each other. This is the most common cause of the unit shutting down. Check your speakers impedance if you have a meter. If you don't then unplug power from the unit and then un-hook all speaker wires from the receiver. Next connect just one speaker (Front Left) and power the unit back on and take the volume up. If it shuts down then try the Front right all by itself, bring the volume up again. If the unit seems ok then add one speaker at a time and test. Continue until you find the bad speaker/cable. Your amp should be able to drive speakers down to 4 ohms. The NR808 has power monitoring (sometimes called crowbar) that looks for to much current and then shuts down. I suspect you may have a short in a cable or in a speaker. The 808 is a great amp and hopefully your problem is external. If your amp continues to shut down even with just one speaker connected then one or more of your channel amps (internal) is likley bad causing the unit to shut down. Good Luck.

Does it harm a refrigerator to plug/unplug it often?

Unplugging the unit is not required. Just turn it off with the control. Every time you turn it iff for an extended period of time and turn in it back on it has to pull temperature down which will use more energy than mornal for a short period. If it is being left off for more than a day you should see some savings but just turning it down to a warmer termperature (say a 1 or 2) then turning it back up to normal (say 3 to 5) will result in the same of not more savings (unless you are leaving it iff for more than two days at a time) and it will recover temperature faster (about 4 hours vs 8 hours). This will not harm the appliance over time.

Shuts down, interior lite on tho, plug back in and works - stops

You have a bad thermostat ( the piece where you adjust the coldness of the refrig ) . Once it gets to temp and shuts off , it will not tell the system to start again . Next time not running , tap on the t-stat . If it starts , this tells you the thermostat is bad .

Shutting off

I would try the same solution as the E1 error code, Not sure if it will work, but it seems to be the same issue

1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front
panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air
conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine
goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on
briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence,
and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power
button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air
conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed
the instructions above EXACTLY.

Error code on air conditioner e1

Search for this problem on web or contact Sharp Technical Support for the following procedure:

1. Unplug unit.
2. Hold down power button while plugging in unit. It will do a short self-test and then beep. leaving unit off.
3. Release power button and unplug.
4. Plug in again and turn on normally. This should last for about 720 hours, at which point the E1 error will come back and you need to follow the procedure again. (You might as well clean the air filter at this point just in case it really needed it...)
