I have recently gone through the same process as you were going through. So I fully understand your pain.

Here is what I did to get XP installed on a Vista pre-installed machine (HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop):
1- Made a backup of all my data on a seperate partition than the primary one
2- Restarted the machine and disabled the "SATA Compatibility" feature (This is critical!!!)
3- Installed XP using my XP Pro cd
4- When it asked me to choos my partition during the installation I left my "recovery" partition. This caused some sort of problem when XP tries to boot up. Giving a blue screen and some sort of stop error.

After I deleted the recovery partition everything worked 100%. I found all the drivers for my laptop on the net and am currently using my "Vista-bred-laptop" with XP installed :)

All I can say is that all the problems I encountered whilst installing XP is far out-weighed by the end-result of booting up and seeing the XP boot screen. HEAVEN!

Hope this helps

HOW?do I download this FREE microsoft outlook express???????

Here is a link to the download of OE 6.0 http://www.tucows.com/preview/194179 Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer 4.0 through 6.0. It is a part of Windows XP. If you have Vista or Windows 7 you cannot use Outlook Express. Vista has Windows Mail preinstalled. Windows 7 has no installed desktop mail program. However you can download and use Windows Live Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird in Windows 7

BSOD in Vista, then restarts itself in XP

You have a driver problem, possible conflict.
Go to the Device Manager and see which devices that need installing and are not working.
You could disable the drivers you installed and enable one driver at a time and test for stability before you enable another driver.
OR
You could reinstall XP again or restore back to a date before you installed any drivers and then install one driver at a time and run your laptop for a while to see if it is stable before you install another driver.

Upgrade vista home premium

As per my knowledge, there is no version of Vista called Vista Professional like in Windows XP.
Make sure what is the version to which you want to upgrade to from Vista Home Premium to Vista Business or Vista Ultimate.
The available versions of Vista Operating Systems along with the features supported from the Link below :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/compare-editions/default.aspx

However, if you want to Upgrade the current version of Vista to a higher version like Vista Business or Vista Ultimate, you need to purchase Vista Anytime Upgrade kit from any retail store or directly from Microsoft.
You can find the required information related to Anytime Upgrade Kit from the link below :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/anytime-upgrade-overview.aspx

However, make sure that you had created the Recovery Disks for your notebook using which you will be able to reinstall the preinstalled Operating Sytem along with all the Preinstalled Applications and Drivers after which you need to use the Vista Upgrade Kit to upgrade to higher version of Vista.
However, if you are currently having a 32 Bit Vista preinstalled in the Notebook, it is not possible to upgrade to a 64 Bit Vista since you can upgrade only a 32 Bit of Operating System to a higher version of 32 Bit Operating System and a 64 Bit Operating System to a higher version of 64 Bit Operating System.
Hope this helps....

Problem with my sound out put

I think I know your problem. First if I'm not wrong this model is design for Vista so the firmware for sound card is design for Vista.Incase you use with XP you'll have this problem and you can't do anything with that. But for your Webcam you can use the latest USB Webcam driver and you can download it from here
