What is the difference between standard strainer and strainer for food erator? I bought a replacement sink wiht standard strainer, which does not seems to fit garbage disposal

If you need new sink strainer basket for disposal side of sink, you have to buy new disposal.

Each garbage disposal comes with its own strainer basket so that disposal can connect and seal.

First, the disposal strainer basket is installed, and then disposal lifts up and attaches from below.
A rubber gasket comes with new disposal.
Rubber gasket fits between disposal and strainer basket so that disposal seals correctly.

Photo below shows how disposal connects to strainer basket using steel connector ring under the sink.

I wrote tips for installing a disposal from days when I worked apartment maintenance.

What is the proper way to install a BLANCO sink strainer Kitchen Sink COD.100113 I believe is the code # Thank you

Hello, W/D here.

To install your strainer, you'll need some plumber's putty. The old one is removed by loosening the large ring on the underside and the strainer pulls out from the sink side. Once you are down to just the hole in the sink, you're ready to install the new strainer.
Get a portion of the plumber's putty in your hand about the size of a golf ball. divide it into two portions. Take one part, and roll it in between your hands, palms together and vertical, making a rope.
Take your rope, and place it around the sink hole. If you need more putty, roll the other portion in a similar fashion, and continue around the hole. You may need to overlap the rope putty where it's thin and at the ends to make sure that you get a good seal when you apply pressure the the basket. Place the strainer basket in the hole and press it down lightly, just enough to hold it in place. From under the sink, place the gaskets on the threads, followed by yjr large ring nut that will hold it all in place. Usually, there are two gaskets, a paper type, and a plastic type. Put the paper one on first, followed by the plastic, then the nut. Screw the nut down, applying some pressure to the strainer and plumber's putty. Adjust the strainer now, centering it in the depression in the bottom of the sink. Continue tightening the ring nut, pulling the strainer down into the sink, and squeezing the plumber's putty out, making a seal. Get it pretty snug, and wait a minute. The putty will continue to settle in the seal, and you will be able to tighten it some more after it does. Do this several times, and you'll end up with a good seal that will last. Take a regular screwdriver, and trace it around the strainer on the sink side to release the excess putty. You can ball it up, and press it back into the tub of putty, ready for the next time.

Best regards, --W/D--

I have a 2000 grand am I replaced the head baskets car runs great but it still runs hot heater want work and it leaks water from tail pipe help

If you're getting water out of the tail pipe, you could have a head gasket that is leaking coolant into an exhaust port. When you replaced the head gaskets, did you properly clean the gasket mating surfaces of both the heads and the engine block? Did you check the heads for warpage? Did you check the block deck surface for any unevenness? Any of these areas could prevent a new gasket from properly sealing. Are you having to add coolant? Did you replace the thermostat? Did you make sure that the thermostat was properly positioned in the housing? It should go in with the coil spring side to the engine. Did you flush the cooling system and install fresh antifreeze?

Leaking from the bottom after removing something that got stuck in the spinning peace

Check a couple things.
Use paper towel and see if top of disposal is damp or wet. The basket strainer might have come loose and water is leaking down.
Fill sink and then release water all at once and check strainer basket and dishwasher hose.
Check where tubular pipe connects to side of disposal. Sometimes this joint can leak, and then water appears at bottom of disposal.

If top of disposal is dry and tubular pipe is not leaking, then disposal is suspect.
Disposals rust out, and dislodging something from cutter plate can open final crack.

If basket strainer is leaking, and disposal is older than 5-8 years, you might consider new disposal since disposal has to be completely removed to reseal basket strainer. See link below for basket strainer steps.

Need a picture of oil pump for 1993 cherokee straight 6

Jeep Wagoneer/Commando/Cherokee 1984-1998 Oil Pump - Removal & Installation
2.5L and 4.0L Engines
(see Figure 1)
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan.
  3. Unbolt and remove the pump assembly from the block. Discard the gasket.
WARNING If the oil pump is not to be serviced, do not disturb the position of the oil inlet tube and strainer assembly in the pump body. If the tube is moved within the pump body, a replacement tube and strainer assembly must be installed to assure an airtight seal.
To install:
  1. If a new pump is being installed, prime the pump by submerging the strainer in clean engine oil and turning the pump gears until oil emerges from the pump feed hole.

Fig. 1: Oil pump inlet tube installation
  1. Using a new gasket, install the pump on the cylinder block. Tighten the short bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm) and the long bolt to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  2. Install the oil pan and lower the vehicle.
  3. Fill the engine with the proper type and quantity of oil.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for proper oil pressure.
Hope this help (remember comment and rated this).

How to Clean Pump Strainer basket

Turn the swimming pool pump off and wait for the water to drain from the strainer basket. You want to make sure that the pump is completely off before you proceed. Remove the screws or any items securing the lid of the strainer basket. Open the lid and pull out the strainer basket. Vacuum the strainer basket or scoop out any debris. You may want to run clear water through the basket to ensure you removed all debris. Feel toward the impeller and remove any clogs or obstructions preventing the impeller from working properly. Check the o-ring under the cover of the pump strainer housing. You may need to use a silicon lubricant to ensure a water-tight seal. Put the strainer basket back into the pump strainer housing and pour some water into the basket. Replace the lid and secure it in place. Turn the swimming pool pump on and check for proper pressure. If your pressure doesn't register, you may need to troubleshoot to find the problem.

How to Install Stainless Sink Baskets?

The stainless steel basin had a pair of big holes in the bottom, suitable for attaching strainer baskets or a garbage disposal. The basket comes with a black rubber gasket that seals underneath the basin, a thick paper washer, and a die-cast metal lock nut to clamp the basket onto the basin. There is also a smaller lock nut that connects the sink tail-piece (the first part of the drain system) to the basket. You should apply a bead of clear silicone to the rim of the opening. Also apply a small bead of silicone to the underside of the edge of the basket. olding the basket by the center, set it in the hole and gave it a slight turn to spread the silicone slightly. Down Under: apply a thin layer of pipe thread compound (a.k.a. pipe dope) to the larger diameter threads. Few plumbers use thread compound here, but I believe in lubricating threads whenever possible. There have been so many times that I needed to remove a basin lock nut, but was unable to because of the slight corrosion that inevitably forms there. Thread compound would prevent this problem. The metal lock nut, the rubber gasket and the paper washer were installed, turning by hand most of the way. The only practical way to tighten these huge lock nuts is to use a pair of 18" jumbo Channel-Lock pliers. To hold the basket from turning, use a pair of screwdrivers placed in an X-formation in the little holes. The lock nut must not be over-tightened, or the rubber gasket can be squeezed out of place, which could cause a leak.

Basket Strainer Specs Question

1\ Amount of free open area is the ratio of the open area through the strainer basket to the cross sectional area of the pipe. A good basket strainer should have a ratio of 4 to 1. 2\ Ease of basket removal is important because baskets may require frequent cleaning or replacing due to buildup. 3\ Compactness of the design saves you valuable space. A small strainer is less bulky and easier to handle. 4\ Availability of basket perforation sizes gives the strainers the flexibility to cope with a wide range of particle sizes.
