Question about Canon Cameras

My Canon EFS 17/85 is blocked on the bar between 17 and 24, it won't move at all. It didn't fall or get any kind of shock. Thanks if anyone has had similar problem. Thierry

What kind of paint and brush should I use to paint my wooden bar stools?

You should first put a layer of primer using wood primerfrom a spray can. This will prevent thepaint from being absorbed into the wood. After 24 hours, you should use acrylic black (or whichever color youwant) paint in a spray can. The reason Irecommend spray paint is because it's easy and gives you tan even, blemish freecolor. Wait 24 hours (so that bubbleswon't form) and do another layer. If itdoesn't look thick enough to you, wait another 24 hours and do a final layer. There is no need for a clear finish.

I have a Canon EOS 550D camera fitted with a Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-200mm lens. I bought both together sometime early in 2010 from London Camera Exchange, Nottingham. I am not in Nottingham at the moment,...

Just a thought - are your Image Stabilizer and Auto Focus switches On or Off?
Might be worth experimenting with them.
Otherwise, sorry, can't help.
May be necessary to contact your vendor.

Hubby wants to replace rear shocks on my 2004 cheve aveo. Is this hard? He does to alot of car work himself. I was just wondering. Is it a simple unbolt and bolt job? Anyone know where you can go...

If he is mechanically inclined - it is not a difficult job. Safety is the factor. Be sure vehicle is well blocks from moving forward or back. Use floor jacks to support the vehicle when up in the air. (chasis supported) and be sure rear end is supported when the shocks are being removed and replaces since the rear end will fall until the suspension supports after shocks are removed if not supported..

Hi there, I need accurate draving of EFs 17-85 or is parts list.Wish to order damaged part in side of the lens barel uder rubber ring for zoom to replace it.Is a litle metal electrical contactor with 5 or...

I bought a flex cable from ebay for my efs 17-85mm lens. Maybe you can try ebay and search for flex cable efs 17-85mm (to find similar suppliers) or search for the efs 17-85mm zoom contacts. The part that is broken sends the actual zoom position of the lens to the camera so that a Canon external electronic flash can correctly set its flash zoom position and the exif data is correct.

I need the part number for the focusing unit ( USM motor) for the efs 17-85. THanks!!!!!

Afternoon,
for the Canon 17 to 80 5F4 to 5.6image stabilized USM lens is as follows
YG2-2140-000
the net cost on this motor assembly should be around $57 not to include shipping direct from Canon.
I hope this answers your question the placement of the motor is fairly straight forward be real careful when you work with the circuit to avoid it shocking or any static discharge. Also be careful of the press connectors and the flex connectors as they are fairly fragile. If you have any other questions please contact me directly@Dave@advancecamera.com.

1996 Chev 4x4, short cab, long box, unstable when hit bumps

sounds like aeither a shock or a stabilizer bar or tie rods you can check all of these yourself , check the shocks by pushing down on the corner of your truck three times and it should bounce no more than 3 times and stop if it seems very loose and bounces alot they are usually bad, to check the tie rods and stabilizer bar just jack up the vehicle and then secure it with a axle jack or some type of block that will kep the vehicle from falling then just reach under and try to move the stabilizer bar and tie rods by hand and see if they move easily if they move by hand they are shot but they may not move and still be bad and you would have to have them checked at a shop

Autofocus gives erratic results

Are you using this indoors, in low light perhaps? This would be the most common reason for this happening. The only way to get around that is to use a "faster" lens, such as f2.8 / f1.8 / f1.4 etc.

If not, try cleaning the lens and camea contacts with a plastic eraser, make sure no debris falls in the camera body (hold upside down for this).

Distance scale does not move on canon efs 17-85mm lens

Yes, this is normal. Some zoom-lenses adjust the focus when zooming, to always keep the subject in focus. Those tends to be the more expensive lenses.
So you don't have to worry, nothing is wrong with your lens.
