According to everything i found on-line a web site called fixitnow.com told be exactly what was wrong. It also told us how to take it apart and tricks to putting it back together. It was the drive coupler and took about 3 hours of labor but only $17 to fix. So much better than $500 to replace it. I do have to say its an amazing washer. I bought it for $280 brand new in 1997 and this is the first time i have anything go wrong. I also have a family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 young ones, so I do alot of laundry.

Whining when i press gas

normally, the only part of your automatic transmission that will make a whining noise is the pump. it usually whines when iether the fluid is low or more commonly when the transmission oil filter is getting plugged up.

the power steering pump will also make a whining noise too.

turn the wheel all the way to the right and hold steady pressure against the stop. this puts maximum force on the power steering pump and, if the power steering pump is the one making the whine, it will change the sound of it. (usually louder).

if the trans pump is making the whine noise, it should sound different in neutral compared to drive. this test will really only work if it make the noise without the vehicle moving. if it wont do it at idle hold the rpms at 2000 or so.

if you decide the noise is coming from the transmission, and the transmission filter has not been replaced (assuming you installed a used transmission), replace the filter by removing the oil pan.

oh and also, if it is the power steering pump you should be able to make it make the whining noise while the vehicle is stationary. if it wont make noise unless its moving its not the power steering pump.

Old GE washer, agitater starts, tubs stats to move

The main seal on the tranny is leaking. This is a cheap and easy fix. This machine is worth the effort to repair it by the way. Here is what you do and it is fairly easy to do although it sounds complicated. Remove the agitator and the tub anti wobble. Then remove the inner tub. Get the tub eal off and then remove the tranny. Flip it over and remove the bottom. Knock out the seal and put a new one using a little oil to lubricate it. Add 2 quarts of motor oil to the tranny and put it back together. Re install the tranny and she will be good as new. Nothing is complicated about this repair and no special tools are needed.

Kenmore 90 series mod.# 110.28912791

OK The Kenmore 90 series mod.# 110.28912791 is not hard to work on. The problem on the washer was no agitation or spin.First I took the agitater out of the tub,and put them aside. Then I tilted the washer to get to the bottom of the washer. Inbetween the motor and I gueuss pump there are three pieces that need to be replaced called (motor coupler). I disconnected ac cord from wall outlet, the cold and hot water hoses. I disconnected the wires at the motor one piece and one two wire connection pluss move a small canister with two wires out of the way. Removed three bolts bottom of pump pulled pump and motor out, you have to turn back and forth a little and the whole assembly comes out. there are two screws that hold two clips at side of motor and motor come off easy. You will notice there is a black rubber disc with a plastic white three prong piece on each side. (Remove those pieces install same way ( you need to use something to hit the center of the plastic till it sets in, install black rubber piece six wholes three prongs on one side. Install second white pronged piece on the pump side and also hit center to set. Place pump over motor looking to (make sure) the top three prongs go inside three holes left in the black rubber piece. Once you line and they go inside line the motor to where the for rubber legs sat before put clips back on install the two screws, install shaft back in moving the motor side to side install the three bolts, hook wires plugs under the motor put canister with two wires back hook the two hoses back next to motor, stand washer back up, install agitater back, hook hot and cold hoses back plug back in and test. parts at sears (one hours time start to finish taking your time) keep track of all parts. Make diagram if you need to believe me it was easy and washer works great now. By the way when I took the parts off they did not look broken but were bad because now I have a working washing mashine. Washer make a clicking noise

Zoobs, you could have something stuck under the agitator. The agitator will pull straight off. Grip it on each side and pull up hard, but don't hit yourself in the face. If that don't work, try slipping a belt under it and pull. Check for something caught under it. Another possibility could be the nylon suspension rod socket supports in the back. They will make a noise during agitation if they are dry. Put a little 3 in 1 oil to quite them down. Take the front panel off and check the pulley and belt, see if anything is out of whack. I also often find the motor support hitting the bottom panel during agitation making noise. Take the front panel off and observe during agitation. See if the support is striking the bottom. If so, just bend the bottom panel down. Catriver..post back.
