I just went to Speakercraft's web site, that is an expensive amp,$500, I would definately get it fixed, they offer a 2 year warranty, But I would raise a stink about it. Also, I wouldn't be afraid to take it to a shop, what is russian to some of us, is peanut and jelly to them. I have a guy right here who, to look at, You wouldn't think he could glue an envelope shut, But he is a genius when it comes to electronics.

Amp not getting power

check the fusebox and see if the fuse running for your audio is not yet busted. If it is then replace it, if not, then the headunit (stereo) has a fault inside and needs to be repaired by a qualified service personnel.

My CA9 has protect recurrent problems.

if you are bridged in parallel instead of in series the amp wont support the load so it turns the power protect on till the amp cant handle nomore then the amp will go if you have two subs bridged run them left speaker possative to to the amp possative for bridged mode then laft speaker negative to the right speaker possative then right speaker negative to your amp negative for bridged mode if you have them left and right speaker possative to amp possative and left and right speaker neggative to your negative to your amp thats parallel the ampwont support the 2 ohm load

Reciever RX V800

Hi there,

I bought my RXV800 in late 2001. This amplifier is absolutely fabulous and I understand others -like me- being unhappy when it starts to fail. I have the volume control issue as well, it started to work normal for at least 5 years, then there was a period of 1 year that the volume neither went up or down when you turn the volume control and then finally a 3rd phase was that it more or less works reverse.

It is solvable and I repaired it myself for $ 0,0. The only requirement is that you are a bit handy. You need to open the box and find yourself a way to the volume control (and you know where this sits of course) because this is the one that needs to be repaired. This is 35 screws away from you in total but this sounds a lot worse than it is !

It is indeed the volume control that needs to be repaired. In an analog amplifier this component would contain a resistor (potentiometer) but hey this is a digital volume control and looks from the outside the same but isn't at all. You need to take this volume control with 5 contacts of its print with a soldering iron. Open this potentiometer lookalike and clean it with some absorbing paper. The issue is that there is a kind of oil/grease from the shaft (which is there in order to turn smoothly) which has leaked into the area of the contacts in the middle. Just clean it and turn 50 times with it in order to spread the remaining oil/grease if there would be any. Close it again, solder it onto its print and switch on the unit... you will see that it is repaired... not for 1% or 10% but for the full 100%.

Hope this helps !

ps : enjoy your RXV800 !

No sound, and a Immediat Red Light turns on everytime..whats it mean, and how can i fix it..

If it goes into protect mode with no speaker wires connected to the amp, it sounds like the audio output transistors have shorted. If that's the case, they would have to be replaced. It would require troubleshooting to find the shorted parts. You'd then have to disassemble the amp, desolder the defective parts and install the new parts. The following page provides the basic information needed to repair the amp.

Amp install disaster...?

Try first to disconnect all of the speakers on the amp. See if the amp will turn on now. If not , the amp has bad output devices, or drivers, and or the switch mode power supply is fried. There is no easy fix with solid state elctronics as there are no user serviceable parts inside. The units going to need to be repaired by a service tech unless you know how to solder, unsolder, test mosfets, transistors, and diodes as well as resistor.
