The keyboard on my Sharp MXM363N has stopped working, how do I fix it?

My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.

When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.

There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.

Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.

The keyboard unfortuneately will need need to be replaced. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of laptop, refine search to keyboard.

It seems that your laptop keyboard is not working any more. you need to buy new keyboard for ur laptop or if you want to use usb keyboard then remove this keyboard's cable, connect your usb keyboard it will work.

This is going to sound odd, but i you 'slam' the I key down, does it work occasionally? Somtimes this is all it takes.. otherwise you will probably need to have the keyboard cleaned or replaced.. however, in the meantime, you can always connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop and use it instead of the laptop keyboard.

Try an external USB keyboard. If it works for you, then reset your bios to defaults. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you probably have a hardware problem. Either your keyboard died or the keyboard port on the system board died. It is possible that re-seating the keyboard connector will help, but I doubt it. Good luck.

This sounds alot like a virus i once had!
try a system restore to the point before these problems occured. if that doesnt work run a full virus scan. If that doesnt fix the problem you may have to wipe the hard drive completly.

Shutdown your pc. Turn it on, then hold the F8 key. If nothing happens and goes into windows, your keyboard is damaged.  You can contact Compaq support to have it fixed if your under warranty. If your out of warranty, you may want to dismantle the keyboard and check its connection leading to the motherboard. You may want to remove it and reseat it again.

Check all connections to PC.
If you have a CD reinstall the software for the keyboard.
Update driver.

The ornage switch denotes the multimedia hotkeys being activated. Turnig it off may have solved your problem.
