Red blinking light can't turn on tv

I've never had any problems with it, then tonight as I went to turn it on, it didn't turn on. Instead the red power light blinked erratically. I tried using the on/off button on both the remote and on the tv. I've also plugged and unplugged the TV to no avail. The green light won't come on. Another peculiar thing is that when I unplug the TV, the blinking red light continues for a few seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
