Question about Maytag PTB1954GR Top Freezer Refrigerator
Maytag fridge ptb1954grw (Bought new in 2002 ) not getting cold, staying around 48 - 50 F. This fridge was part of a recall and on March 12 2009, I had the part replaced under the recall, something called a 3 in 1. Actually that would be the third one installed in this fridge, this same type of temperature problem happened in June 2006, and I paid a serviceman $200 to replace that same part.
Check the condenser coils. These are located at the rear, behind the panel. There should be frost all over the coils.
If not, and the frost is just on the first section then this indicates a slow refridgerant leak. I purchased mine in 2002 and it came with a 10 years parts and labour warranty on all parts of the refridgerant system. So hope you hung onto all your documents.
