Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

1 Answer

Wirless network - laptop

My wireless network is configured correctly, because I can connect to it from one laptop. But when I connect to the same network from another laptop, I can use skype, but everything else is not being connected to the network, IE, Firefox, other messengers, nothing.
There is no problem using non wireless network as well, for the same laptop

I have Win Vista, Netgear wireless router WGT624

I would appreciate any suggestions,
Thank you

See what ip,gateway and DNS its getting from the access point. If its getting the right ips then your network should work. If it is not getting the right ips then there must be some problem in the DHCP configuration of the access point

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Cant connect to wirless network

if you can connect to your wirless AP from other devices such as mobile or other laptop this means that you have to check the following:
1- delete then re-create your wireless profile .
2- make sure that your wireless adapter is cofigured to obtain automatic ip address not static.
but if you are not able to connect with other devices , then make sure that you have the correct security password (if any) or check the configuration of your Access Point.

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my Dell Latitude C510 Laptop and now my wireless direct access button does not work. I also cannot see any wireless connection on this laptop. It was working before I...

Hopefully this helps

Try the following: click start, RIGHT click on My PC, click on administration, select services and applications, select Start wireless configuration service, click start service. Close the window
Open configuration of wirless network, flag the option let windows configure my wirelss network
That should let you see and select your wireless device

I have to do this everytime I start my laptop. I would like to have the system make this automatically, but I don't know how.

check wireless network adapter is configured to get the IP adrress manualy or automatically. if it's manualy, then change the settings to automatic so that wireless network can issue an IP adress to the device.

Tiscali wirless connection issue

Sounds like the router may need a firmware update as the DHCP service is failing to run correctly.

You can however just use a static ip address.
First of all find out the network address in use.
eg. 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.2.1
to find out, - start menu - run - cmd - ok - ipconfig

1. Log on to the client computer as Administrator or as Owner. 2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 3. Click Network and Internet Connections. 4. Click Network Connections. 5. Right-click Wireless Network Connection, and then click Properties. 6. Click the General tab, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the This connection uses the following items list, and then click Properties. 7. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click Obtain an IP address automatically (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.

Note You can also assign a unique static IP address in the range of 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. For example, you can assign the following static IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway:

IP Address 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1

Wirless Network keeps failing

Hi,

It is possible that you need to further fine tune your WEP configuration. To verify if it's the security lock, try running the laptop and the router without the WEP security (disabled) and determine if you still get the "Limited connection or no connectivity".

If yes, you have just eliminated that area and could consider other possibilities, otherwise you then have to concentrate on the WEP security.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back on any developments (or lack thereof) or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
