Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. SOURCE: cant see dvds on my emerson tv
Hello.
In many cases by connecting the DVD via a scart cable (depending in what country you live in if your system supports it)
the dvd will send a signal to the TV to switch over to RGB mode when you start playing the dvd. Rember to make sure the scart connectors are firmly pressed into their sockets on both tv and dvd.
Also if you found out how to switch channels directly on the TV try to go through them ...you might find the AV channel that will show the picture from your dvd.
Hope this will help you.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: the Emerson TV won't respond to the remote
If the Duraband doesn't work the Philips remote below worked on mine. If it doesn't then it probably is the sensor.
I just purchased one of these televisions and it didn't come with a remote. However, a Philips Universal Remote (SRU2103/27)
with a code 0520 works fine. I haven't explored all the codes but I can easily change from tv stations to Video 1 and Video 2 merely by pressing the "Input" button on the remote.

VICTORY! Had the same problem with my Orion model FTDV2004. Lost the remote and couldn't program a universal remote to change the input to AV. After a day of reading posts, I just started pushing the channel up button. Somewhere past channel 115 the "Line1" and "Line 2" inputs showed up.
