Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

The CD drawer ( disc e ) opens and closes with a mind of it's own at any time while the computer is running. No disc is in the drawer. No program is calling for a disc to be inserted. The drawer just randomly opens, sometimes closes by itself, or you can close it with the button, or a shove!

Hello Sab....as I type this...the cd drawer is constantly going in and out!....it just stopped...in the out position. Now away it goes again. It appears to be on a cycle. If I push the button, it will go in and stop for a while.

Yeah...Sabharish is no doubt correct..the machine is becoming an old lady for sure. Time to have a little heart to heart with it, clean up inside, and move on. Thanks for the tips...I am always optimistic for a quick fix.

The problem is with the internal switch. Happens mostly is old CD drives. Removing and Doing the replacing of this switch is quite tedious. Try removing the case and see if any dirt or gear is stuck, or different.
Thank you! Sabharish

I am sure that the tray sensor is completely lost. If you can open the case and look at its working parts when it does this crazy stuff, you can find any componets which actually causes it. If its due to dirt, try cleaning it.

Cant open dvd drawer

Sometimes DVD player drawers get stuck closed because the disc inside isn't seated properly. At other times the player may have another problem. The first step in discovering if it is the disc or another issue is to remove the disc. Most DVD players have a secret eject button. It allows you to open the drawer when a disc gets stuck and cannot be ejected normally.
For this you'll need a standard size paperclip.

  1. Unfold the paperclip and make it as straight as possible.
  2. Look closely at your DVD player . Push the tip the paper clip into the small hole on the tray cover on the front of the Toshiba. The hole is on the right side of the cover.
  3. Press inward gently with the paperclip until you feel a slight resistance, then continue pushing to engage the internal eject button. The tray should pop open partway.
  4. Gently pull the drawer until it's fully retracted. Be careful not to pull too far.
  5. Remove your disc from the drive.
  6. Before you reinsert another disc, use the remote and/or buttons on the player to close the door, and reopen it. You can also press carefully with your fingers. If you cannot open/close the drawer normally at this point, do not put in a new disc until you have repaired the problem.

Sharp CD-BA2100 cd drawer won't turn or close.

Take the 4 screws out of the top, lift the CD drawer out, disconnect the two wire harnesses, take the top off, lift the 3 disc tray out, then force the drawer open and closed a few times until it slides freely. Put it back together and it may or may not work. Worked for me.

Why does my yahama cdc-505 cd changer not play cd, or change tracks

This is a result of the deck kicking out you disc as an unacceptable media. This usually means that it can not read the data on the disc or the necessary TOC (Table of Contents).
The other possibility is that your draw in detection switch has gone bad and when the processor- control type, tries to load a tray or close the drawer it is not getting the door closed signal. Depending on how the unit is programmed it might just sit there and do nothing or in your case throw the disc back out.
It is kind of telling you it wants to go see a Technician.
It could also be a bad belt that loads the Pickup assembly- it might be good enough to move the drawer in and out but the Pickup assembly needs more torque and it might not be there.

DVD tray won't open.

Opening a CD or DVD drive to retrieve a disc
  • Use Windows to open the drive door:
    1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop (or click Start and My Computer in Microsoft Windows XP).
    2. Right-click the CD, CD-RW, or DVD drive , and then click Eject .
  • Restart the computer and press the EJECT button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD drive. Try shutting down or configuring any programs that write discs or monitor the CD drive.
  • If the door still will not open, do the following:
    1. Close all programs and shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the PC from the power outlet and remove the battery.
    3. Locate the manual release hole in the front faceplate of the optical drive tray. This is a small hole under the door that is a little bigger than the diameter of a paper clip. The location of the manual eject hole will vary.
    4. Insert a straightened paperclip into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
    5. Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer comes out about a quarter of an inch.
    6. Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
    7. Remove the CD and turn on the computer.

I had this happen to me as ell. you've probably got a cd stuck under the revolving tray. I took the top cover off and then opened the drawer and removed the offending disk. If you're not technically minded it's probably better to take it in to a repair shop. Mike
