Dell cd drive door won't open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

1. make sure that the disc Surface is Clean and don't have finger prints or any other material that is disturbing the the read process between the CD and lens present inside CD player

2.if your CD is precious for you ( that consist some important Data you may need ) then try a DVD player for that

Dvd rom will not work

This is normally caused by missing or corrupt drivers for your CD drive. Again if the CD drive is not properly connected to the motherboard of your laptop, this can also happen

1. Try to restart the laptop and observe the results. Make sure there is no CD in the CD drive.
2. If you still have the same result, go to "my computer" and check whether the CD ROM
appears on the list of devices. If it appears then, right click on it and try to eject.
By doing this you want to check whether the CD tray is still mobile and not blocked
by anything else.
3.Then right-click on it again and go to its properties and go to the "Hardware" tab
4. In the Hardware tab, notice the list of drives connected to your laptop and choose the Cd Rom and go to "Properties"
5. Notice at this point, whether the device is said to be working properly or there is something wrong with it.
6. Then go to the "Driver" Tab, and choose "update driver"
6. This will let your system look for the missing or corrupt drivers for your CD drive.
Restart your computer and observe the results

Cd stuck on cd drive in Dell

If the Cd drive is not ejecting, try going into My Computer, and right clicking the Drive and selecting "Eject". If that doesn't work, then take a paper clip (or any other piece of wire that small, which does not have a sharp end) and examine your CD/DVD drive. There should be a little paperclip sized hole, this is usually next to the Eject button. Slowly push the paperclip into the hole, until you feel that you have pressed something, and then remove it. The drive should eject. This should work regardless of whether the computer is on or off.

Dell XPS 1300 Cd rom problem

This is a CD drive mechanical problem. All CD/DVD drives have built in error checking for mechanical failures. When you insert the CD/DVD, it tries to grab and seat the disc, then attempts to spin it up and then read it. If the grab and seat function fails for any reason, the drive will eject the tray so you can try again. You should contact Dell support and get the drive replaced. Has the drive ever worked? or did it just stop working one day?
