No solution exists.
.ecw files contain raster maps not compatible with GPSRs.
only .imi files compatible with eXplorists can be loaded

How do I download updates to my gps

http://www.insigniaproducts.com/products/car-audio-video-gps/NS-NAV01.html
Form the manuafacurers web site - The manufacturer is working on a map update however it is stored on the SD memory card in your GPS unit so you may need to contact insignia to find out how the SD memory card is updated and when the update will be released.
I would at a guess think that a memory card reader device may need to used on your P.C and that a download into the sd memory card would be how insignia would achieve an update. But backup what is on the memory card first onto your hard drive in your P.C. before altering its contents if this is how it is achieved.

How to choose an adequate graphic card

A graphics card is mainly composed of a processor, GPU (Graphic Processing Unit), and memory.

The graphics card is in itself a small PC dedicated to graphics applications, independent of the rest of the PC, the only link being the information passing through the port graphic and food.

Choosing a card is based on its needs and its budget:
  • For desktop applications, a map called "entry level" enough;
  • For multimedia applications, a map can read the desired video format is imperative;
  • For 3D video games (and generally all 3D applications), one more powerful is essential.

Structure of a graphics card

The essential component that will determine the performance of the graphics card is the GPU:
A modern GPU is based on different units calculation:
  • Processors Flow
  • Texturing units,
  • Raster units (ROPS).

The most important are the processors flows over the number of processors flow is important, the GPU will be more powerful (for architecture).
The model number on the card is linked to the GPU.

To enable the GPU to store its calculations, there are memory:
  • It varies in quantity:
    • 256 MB enough for the tickets range of previous generations;
    • 512 MB is sufficient for most current cards graphics;
    • 1GB is needed for cards with a very powerful GPU, the GTX 280;
    • Broadly speaking, the more you play in high resolution and filtering enabled, you need more memory.
  • It varies in type:
    • DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 or DDR5: The higher the figure, the greater the memory is fast. His type does not relate to that used for RAM PC: you can have a PC in DDR2 and DDR3 graphics card.
  • Its frequency:
    • Plus it is high, the card is more powerful.

Finally, to link GPU and memory is the memory bus.
The width of this bus is important: it may be 64, 128, 256, 384 and 512 bits: over the bus is large, most trade between the GPU and memory will be rapid. A map to 256-bit bus is efficient at a map of 128-bit bus for the same GP

Garmin nuvi 200 SD card

Did you rename the file extensions? On the unit, the map file and map unlock file must be named gmapprom.img and gmapprom.unl

On the SD card they must be named gmapsupp.img and gmapsupp.unl.

Also copy your garmindevice.xml file over to the SD card too.

Cant transfer music files from card to phone or find them.

I had the same problem and realised that you have to copy the file from the music section on your external memory to the sounds section. Firstly I sent an album to my memory card via windows media player and it went to the music section. My phone recongnised it was there on the external memory but not when I tried to play it through the mp3. I read an earlier message and it mentioned that the music needs to go into the sounds file so I copied it to that file and hey presto, I have music on my external memory that actually plays lol

Garmin zumo 550 map update problem

  1. Make a backup of your Zumo by copying all the file to your computer.
  2. Using your PC and MapSource select all the maps then send them to a SD memory card need 2Gig or bigger card.
  3. Try to rename this file to gmapprom.img and replace the same named file in your zumo. (I haven't tried this personally, so if it fails, just replace this with your backup and all will be as it was.)
  4. If this fails, you can use the SD memory card in your zumo and it will use this map instead, but it will take longer to boot your zumo.

Unit Map

You can download the US basemap for the 500 at
http://www.megaupload.com/it/?d=EJTNQH03
Rename it BASEMAP.MGI
Then copy it in the directory "background maps" in the SD card of your 500, by using a SD card reader/writer.
Insert the SD card in your 500 and connect it to your PC; then turn it on;it will turn on regularly, because the basemap in the card will be detected; turn it to USB file transfer mode, and copy the basemap from the SD card to the directory "background maps" of the 500.

Putting maps on sd memory card

(Untried)
For C330 owners that want to have both Canada and US 2008 map update on their GPS this is what you have to do.

Must have:
1 - Street pilot C330

2 - 512mb SD card
3 - SD card reader of some form (some cameras will suffice)
4 - Garmin 2008 Map Update North America

What to DO:

1 - connect the GPS to the computer
2 - Insert the Map update disk
3 - Install the Lower 48 states, United States
(Reason - the C330 has around 1000mb of memory and the "US 48 states" map uses around 900mb" while Canada uses 400mb...which is why you will need that 512mb SD card later)

4 - Once the GPS is updated with the US map. Browse the Map update disk contents. This can be done with going to "My Computer" right click on your CD/DVD drive and click on "Explore"

5 - Open the folder called "img"

6 - Copy the file called "gmappromU.img" file is around 430mb. (This is the map file for Canada)

7 - Insert your SD card into your card reader and connect it to your computer. A window should pop up. If not you should see it on your "My Computer"

8 - Once you have navigated your way into the SD card directory. Create a folder on the SD card named "garmin" (no caps)

9 - Go into your newly created "garmin" folder right click and paste the "gmappromU.img" file. (This may take upto 20 to 30 mins)

10 - Once the process is complete, Rename the "gmappromU.img" file to --> "gmapsupp.img" (watch for spelling, no caps at all)

11 - Remove the SD card, Turn off your GPS, Insert SD card into GPS.

12 - Turn on GPS, let it load, and there you have it, the FULL North America Map.

When you are searching a state or province (depending where you are located) it will give you an option which map to use, Canada/Alaska or the lower 48 US states. Select your map and you are set to Go.
