Make sure your oil line is clear and oil is comming thru the line,, make sure when oil is comming thru the line you tighten it up so there is no leak,, if it still doesn't ignite you will need to have the burner assembly cleaned {serviced} I will not tell a customer over the computer how to do this process beings it is flamable and not safe for an untrained person to do this part of the job,, good luck

Boiler won't ignite for hot water unless heating is on.

If this is in a RV the propane monitoring valve may require more gas flow to turn on than the water heater requires. A central heating system requires substantial gas flow so when the monitoring valve opens to fire the central heating, there is enough gas flow to also fire the water heater.

Wont always fire up

You probably have tankless water heater.
What brand water heater?
Gas or electric?
Is this new installation or old installation?

For Rheem tankless:

Hello You have a clogged oil filter or oil line. The (electrode) gap should be left ALONE.The line needs to be blowin out & replace the filter element then the flameout will stop.

It sounds to me like you probably have a clogged oil nozzle. Of course I'm am assuming that you bleed all the air out of the oil lines that run both to the hot water tank and the heating appliance. If you have solid flow at the water heater pump, and the unit still does not ignite, it is most likely the nozzle. Hope this helps

Water heater not firing up

Make sure thermostat is turned to 120 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Turn the thermostat down and back up to see if it ignites. If it lights put the cover back on and set it to temp you want it to be. if not, you have a bad thermostat.
Hope this helps.

Wat the hell is wrong with my dayton heater?170,000 btu oil fired...wont stay runnin?on shut down puffs like a mutha....

Most use a spark plug to ignite fuel it could need cleaning. You also could have water in fuel or dirt
check and clean ignitor/spark plug clean fuel line and nozzle, drain and clean tank Check for water in fuel by tilting unit to have a low corner siphon fuel from that corner after 1 hr inspect for water.
