Blades not egaging.

Check your ground wire. Follow the wire from your engage switch and or button. The ground wire may need tightened. I had a john deere and this problem was intermittent then if finally didn't work at all. I called the dealer and he walked me through the problem. sure enough the ground connection was not only loose but needed cleaning and tightening. Never had the problem again. hope this helps solve your problem.

Blade always engaged making mower more difficult to start.

it sounds like you deck belt is not loosening reach on top of the deck to see if your belt is tight if it is try to get it loose you'll see the moving arm when you free it then just spray some wd40 on the arm and keep tightening and loosening the belt to free it up hope this helps

YT4000 blades not turning

I am wondering if you have the right belt for that machine. or possible its not installed properly. The belt should be tight when engaged. The tightener may not be working as well. These are things to check. Does the belt try to tighten up when you engage it?
I am wondering if the wrong belt was the reason why some one lowered the deck too low.

Why don't the blades engage?

Blades Engage via a pully system. Once you move the lever to engage the blades, the belt tightens and the blades engage. It is possible that your belt is broken or has gone out of track with the pulleys. If you know the belt is ok, then it is probably a bearing in one of the blade mounts.

Can you tighten the belt that engages the blade?

check for a spring loaded idler pulley that keeps tension on the belt out of place.

Craftsman LT2000 Blade is staying engaged all the time, just did a blade mandrel replacement, where does the spring for the blade control reattach? What would make the blades be in motion all the time?...

sounds like you may not have the right mandrels making the belt to tight and it cant be left loose enough to allow the blades to quit turning.Otherwise you didnt put the belt back on correctly if it is around the tightener pully the wrong way that to will make the belt to tight

Lever won't engage blades

check to see if a belt came off, it would go from bottom engine pully to deck lever pully then around blade pullys on deck. the pully under neth has to tighten belt to run blades the pully is ether solid to lever or has a cable that moves it make sure cable did not break hope this helps

Throw lever to ingage blades and it doesn't engage

either the belt is worn so it is too loose or there is something binding the arm that moves to tighten the belt and not moving far enough to tighten the belt.
