Question about Nokia 6233 Cellular Phone
Last week I bought a Samsung G600 on ebay (Bad idea I know!) I am based in Ireland and the phone came from the UK. When I charged the phone and inserted my sim, it came up with my network showed a strong signal and a minute or two later dropped out of service. It will go in and out of service but mainly say "No Service" on the screen. I brought it to a phone shop over here and they said there might be an issue with the software, or the antenna but they do not have the software here to check. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue??!
Sounds like it could be blacklisted [registered lost/stolen]. This was done to my phone by t-mobile when i am not even their customer and was VVV difficult to undo. You can find out if its blacklisted by getting a phone shop to check it against the national blacklist. Vodaphone [my provider] entered the imei number [barcode below battery] into their system and can tell you if it is or not.
If it is blacklisted then only the provider that blacklisted it can "unblacklist" which they will be unlikely to do if you can't prove you bought the phone from them. Unfortunately there is a scam going round on ebay where a seller sells their mobile phone then rings the provider they bought it from originally and reports it lost/stolen and has it blacklisted. Hope this isn't the case here!
Note: Blacklisting is only applicable to uk network providers so if it is blacklisted you could sell it on ebay advertised as blacklisted in uk to an international bidder.
