Question about Gateway GT4016 Desktop PC

1 Answer

Fan works but no beeps, no video signal. Tried some suggestions.

I've been reading through all the posts about the Gateway 4016 not booting. I have the same problem. I removed the hard drive and the memory, and reset the bios by changing the jumper on the motherboard. I reinstalled the memory, changed the bios jumper back to its original setting but still get no beeps and get a no signal from the monitor. Isn't there a LED light on the motherboard that would let us know if it is functioning or not? I can read the hard drive on my laptop pc, so it is not the problem.

Sometimes pulling the power cord out of the pc and then replugging it will let it reboot. for some reason these machines die, and they will not reboot until you take all the power off the motherboard for about 10 seconds.

Dell inspiron 530 desktop won't boot, fan is running, no signal on monitor

It sounds like either your monitor or video card inside the computer is bad.

If the monitor is showing the "No Input Signal" message then the video card inside the computer is bad. The monitor is ok otherwise it would not be able to display the No Input Signal message.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the computer is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in and hit the power button to see if it boots.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

GATEWAY GM5094E Athlon dual core, NO POST TEST BEEP-NO BOOT SCREEN, fan worksHD light comes ON, but no boot.

Being no test beep, I'm saying motherboard. Try removing & replacing ram sticks to see if it boots. Other problems may be simply a bad power supply. Did you test the video with a vid card another vid port? Might want to try that first. It could be you lost the video.

Gateway 4016 will also not boot.

Certainly could...when all else fails check the case. I had an issue like this with my last computer. Turned out to be the case. A friend of mine had the same issue and his turned out to be the video card...it was drawing more power then his PS could handle. Either way it sounds like your on the right track.

Computer does not boot up

Computer has three short beeps as it starts? computer RAM (memory) related issue.

If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory.

Sometimes when the computer is moved and/or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer.

Hope this helps.

4016 gATEWAY computer wont boot

Plug off your Hard Disk and give a try. If the system boots then, its a prob with HDD. Else, it may be because of the monitor, or the RAM module.

Thank you!
