Re: soltek error code 25

1. Try use any (to ex. - old) PCI video. If it run good - check (change) PSU, VideoCard or carefully look at capasitors (especially near video-slot).
2. Check temperature of South Bridge. If it very hot - it`s sounds very bad.
3. Remove any overclocking if it set.

GA-7VRX Motherboard won't boot

Hi sebaswis, am I correct that this Gigabyte GA-7VRX is a replacement MB? (I read your other posted questions). You mentioned you put your old system back together & it worked fine. If mother board is shorted to the system case you will see the CPU fan spin for a second. Most motherboards use a green led which represents there is stand-by power running to the board.(This is normal). I am unsure why your led is orange. (Its not mentioned in your manual & manual does not show the led?s location). Was the other GA-7VRX MB led always orange or was it also green? Suggest you disassemble the heat-sink from the CPU. You mentioned you installed a new XP 2500+ CPU. If a pin on the CPU was bent during installation of CPU into the socket or if no thermal grease was applied or too little to the top of CPU, either would give you: CPU fan spins for a second & nothing else seems to run. Look over the link provided below. It is a guide to how to install a motherboard. (You may not need this but Its worth going over all the steps). As far as the power supply. If the MB's are the same (GA-7VRX) & the old system ran with 220W, the newer one should also function. Clarify these questions for me sebaswis. Mike

Erratic behavior - system halts with blue screen with error codes

sounds like serious memory errors. download and boot to "memtest86" to terst your ram for errors, but it may also be the memory controller.

you can try also to swap slots between the memory sticks and see if it works better with the sticks swapped.

check your display card. it seems to be faulty.
If its onboard then use any PCI display card and try to boot. If its booting up then its confirm your onboard display got damaged.
Other than check settings in BIOS if there is any setting for VGA/VGA etc..

K8 Neo-2 V-2.0

Please connect jPw1 to 4 Pin 12v, this supplies power to CPU. Than enter Bios & find Boot settings. Set the cdrom as boot 1 & hd as boot 2. Check the jumper on the cdrom, as it is the only device on secondary IDE controller it should be set as a master.
It is better to install a fresh copy of windows with a new motherboard. Put your windows CD in the cdrom & the system will boot to it. And your on your way. You can install the drivers for the board after windows has been installed.

Generally an FF code means either a dead board or a dead motherboard... =/

Although you may not have changed anything, motherboards can die for the strangest of reasons, and in my personal experience, this is what this means.

CPU Upgrade

Athlon XP 3000+ is 400mhz FSB according to the link(,,30_118_1274_3734^11672,00.html), means that in order to display the actual speed of your Athlon XP 3000+ you have to set your board 166mhz to 200mhz jumper setting or in CMOS utility overclocking option. and also just to inform you that your motherboard is in Overclocked condition when set, because it only supports processors up to 333mhz FSB (
