Why does window media player recognize my music cd as a blank cd?

It's not reading it properly. Try a different CD. If this keeps happening, try downloading Media Player again. There may be a glitch in the links.

I tried to burn my kodak pictures with it and it keeps telling me put a recordable disk in .

There are different grades of cd media. Maxwell is usually a pretty good grade. That said, there are a few things that could cause this. Your drive may be malfunctioning, this could be a bad batch of cd's, or the software you are using to burn disks us having issues with the device drives for the Drive.

The first and most easiest way to troubleshoot this is to try media from somewhere else. If you can use different media and you have no problems, then you have a bad batch of CDs. If it still malfunctions, then you have a bad drive or bad device drivers. You can delete your drive from the device manager and let windows reload it when you reboot. I doubt that i the problem takes little effort to test. Last, you may need to clean your drive. There are inexpensive CD drive cleaning disks available. If all that doesn't work, then you most likely have a bad drive and will have to replace it. Very simple to do. After replacing it, Windows will see it when you turn the power back on.

I have just brought a new pack of blank CD's, i am

Its a common problem with CDs. Check that your CD drive can PLAY CDs. If so either the CD drives optical head is dirty or your CD pack are low quality. CDs damage real easy. Try putting another CD, another brand or you must use CD doctor-something like that. Did that help

Problems burning cd's using my memorex dvd multi recorder 16x

It can be CD-blank media problem. Try another brand or if you use CD-RW try to use CD+RW.
Also try to use simulation mode. If it works fine it can be CD-blank media problem.
Good Luck

MY PC no longer "burns" cds-but there is no "error" message

My only suggestion is to borrow another burner if possible and see if you get the same error with with that one. This will be the simplest way to determine if you have a software problem or if your burner has a fault.

HELPP MEE! :)

Ok people let us try a little help here. the cd you are trying to load may not work but let us plug in our MP3 players and go to My Computer and see if it comes up as another ubs drive in most cases it does. In this case I tell the person go to windows media player pick the music they want in their player and click sync. At that click click device drive this is where you put the drive where your MP3 is located on the Windows media Player then click sync and it should download your music

Cd burner

You may want to double-check the "error" message. Normally, when you insert a blank CD-R or CD-R/W you'll see a pop-up message that says something like, "you've inserted a blank CD. What program do you want to use to put something on it?" And then it will give a list of programs like Windows Media Player, Nero Burning ROM, Roxio, MyDVD, etc. The last two choices are "Open a writeable folder" and "Do nothing." The next to last, the open folder, option is the CD recording option for Windows. Once you've put copies of that data into the new window click on the "burn these files to disc" link on the left side or located under the File menu at the top of the window.

Now, if it truly is telling you that you have to insert a blank CD, then you may have one of two problems. Either the CD you're putting in is NOT actually blank or the drive is having problems recognizing the media. To test the first scenario, try the disc on another computer. If it's truly blank, then try uninstalling the CD burner from your Device Manager located in the Windows control panel. Double-click on the System icon > Hardware tab > Device Manager > click on the (+) symbol next to DVD/CD-ROM drives and then highlight your Sony CD burner > right-click and in the menu choose Uninstall. Reboot your system and let Windows redetect the drive and reinstall the drivers (You may want to have any install discs handy, just in case Windows asks for them, but not likely).

I hope that helps!
