More than likely the coils are dirty. The coils need to be clean for the refrigerator to cool properly. On some refrigerators the coils are on the rear and others the coils are underneath. They sell a special brush at most hardware stores and grocery stores. I see them for sale all the time at the "big box" stores. I prefer to use my air compressor with a long blower attachment to reach underneath and blow the dust and "wooly bugers" off. I set the pressure regulator on the air compressor to 40 psi. The only thing is the dust and crud go everywhere but the coils are left really clean. This needs to be done about every 3 months, at least..

What is the best temp . for my freezer and fridge on Boshe 44 intelligent and how often should the motor stop for self defrost per day

the compressor and or condenser fan have nothing to do with defrost cycle which is determined by the thermistor which turns on the defrost heater

meaning the defrost heater can glow hot whether or not the condenser fan and or compressor is running.

the defrost heater will activate many times in a 24hr period, the colder you keep everything - the more it is activated.

best temps are:
freezer: 28-31
refrigerator: 39-41

I have GE ref, its been a 6 years old. when the temp.reach to 5 deg. it stops the compressor. but the thermostat setpoint is very low. what seems to be problem

Thermostats are common to fail or get out of range, have you had it colder in the past? Is the thermometer that your checking it with accurate.Or are you just wanting it colder now. 5 degrees is not that bad except for ice cream ect. Although its not a problem for you at this time, is the condenser coil clean?

Compressor turns off

Good day,
If he temperature in the garage drops below 55 degrees running time will degrade, and cooling will get erractic, if at all.
It will be covered in your owners manual.
That's the good news.
The problem is the compressor has an oil sump just like your car. But it does not have multiviscosity oil.
Under real cold conditions, it approaches sludge. When it's finally asked to run it has to fight that severe problem, and will, over time (sooner than later)
will destroy itself.
Should be moved into a warmer area if possible.

Thank you for using FixYa

Vegetable draw is getting too cold and freezing contents,

Good day,
Seems to be a common complaint when colder weather sets in.

This problem seems more acute when the rooms cool down, and the machine gets light usage.
The main reason, is the machine stays off for longer periods of time and the air stratifies in the fresh food compartment.
That is, the cold air tends to settle to the bottom of the compartment when the machine is off and the circulating fan is not running.
recommendations are to set the thermostat to a warmer setting..
Sounds good, however, there are techs who recommend setting it to a colder setting, to keep the fan running more frequently.

I know it sounds ludicrous, but it's primarily the result of trying to keep one compartment at 0 degrees and another at 37 degrees using only one compressor and one cooling fan.

Many years ago, many refrigerators had 2 fan motors, one for each compartment, and 2 thermostats. These machines never had this problem.

Running High @ -10 C and should run at -20 C on coldest setting

1. Make sure the sealing gasket is making good contact all the way around. It's pretty easy to lose 10 degrees. If it is a magnetic seal on the door gasket, it may not be sealing all the way around.

2. If it is staying that cold, everything is working well enough. Maybe you need a little gas in the compressor. Time for the service guy.

By the way, is your unit speced to be that cold full of supplies? Is the door opened frequently? minus 35 is pretty cold.

when its running how hot are the sides the starting amps are too high and 1.5 running amps ain't bad now the the cut in cut out are too high if you look on the dial that the mid point settings that's where you should have it not on 1 1 is hot set it on the straight line that's where you should do all your testing colder settings go up not down you could be overheating the compressor by making it come on too quick the freezer should be about -10 or so do you see any gaps in the gasket

Low temp conditions

75k ohms resistor is lower than 0 degrees F in equivalent temperature may be compressor cannot operate because the maximum setting of thermostat. is from 17 to 18deg. C. You can use 11 to 12k ohms the temp. for this is about 23 to 24 deg. C. The resistor resistance is fixed so the compressor continue running without cut out. The only problem for this is the compressor, because the design of the compressor is for high temp. Continue running of compressor can produce icing in suction and evaporator coil and cause damage of compressor due to liquid slugging.
