Yes, the clock battery has died. This is very inexpensive and easily replaceable. Lift up the rubber flap on the left side of your camera. Pry open the little sliding door just under the flap. Pay attention to the little button battery inside and how it's installed (you won't want to put in its replacement upside down). Go to the battery section at your local pharmacy and look for a CR1220 battery. It's very common, and should only cost a few dollars. Reinstall the replacement in your camera, and you should be good to go. Note that Walmart's watch section also carries this battery but it will be more costly than Rite-Aid or Walgreens pharmacy (I know, it's unusual).

The Time/Date battery is a small round lithium battery the size of a dime in the battery compartment. You can get the numbers off it and buy one at Walmart or Ebay.

Everytime I turn on my camera it asks me to set date/time. It goes to the default date/time setting of 00.00.0000 00:00 mm/dd/yy. What do I do to set the date/time so that it permanent? The photos are...

It takes around four hours for a freshly charged main battery to charge the internal backup battery. It you do that and it still doesn't charge it, you need a new internal battery. The fully charged internal battery in most of them will hold the charge for up to 3 weeks with the main battery out of the camera.

1. In Set Up you must select the language you want to use by highlighting it then PRESS OK. If you don't do this then the date/time will not set.
2. When asked to set date and time you must select YES and press OK.
3. After completing each step you must press OK.
4. In the final step you must choose your preferred day/month/year display and then press OK.
If you don't press the OK button at each step the date and time will not set.

I have an Olympus 850sw and each time I turn it on it asks to enter the date and time. Why is that?

Most of the cameras with a date time clock have a secondary internal power source like a small watch type battery some point and shoot cameras use a storage cell which takes power from the main battery. This means when the main battery looses power the camera clock will hold a setting for about 1 day or 24 hours. To keep the camera clock set you need to keep a charge in the main battery. Here is a screen shot from the manual explaining this function.

Coolpix S710 time-date setting required EVERY time

I thing your problem in your internal power. I don't know what NIKON S710 use. For some camera, they used internal battery (Circle and small) in their board. If you find same, try to change with the new one. If you don't find it..In my country i find the battery in the watch service. I hope usefull

No memory card, set time

The date/time battery is "built in" (not replaceable) to this model according to page 13 in the manual (available here). It is supposed to recharge when you have the regular battery installed, but if you leave the regular battery out for more than "approximately three weeks", the internal battery may go flat.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with the memory card issue, though. Check the battery problem by inserting a freshly charged battery, turning on the camera and setting the correct date and time, then turning off the camera and waiting an hour or so (with the main battery still in the camera). Turn the camera back on, and if the date and time have to be reset again, your internal battery may be bad, and the camera would need to be serviced.

Clock always reset to default upon power up

Either the replacement battery was dead or the camera needs to be serviced. If the date/time needs to be reset every time the camera powers up, the camera is not receiving the power it needs from the date battery.

Date time setting does not program

There is not an option to remember the date/time when you power off the camera. The camera should always remember the time. If it forgets the setting when you power it off then your backup battery has gone dead. Check your manual to see if it is something you can replace yourself. I am not familiar with this camera specifically but some cameras make the backup battery accessible and some require disassembly. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Whenever i turn on my camera i have to enter the date and time again. This sucks. Help Me! I think that covers it.........

Most (all?) digital cameras have an internal battery that resembles a watch battery. This battery is responsible for maintaining the system settings i.e. date and time. Your's is likely dead. Some of these batteries can be accessed without cracking open the body others can't. Check out your manual to see if you can get to it and replace it - that should fix your problem.
