61g9uxc Toshiba Rear Projection Convergence Problem

I have a Toshiba 61in TV which blew the power supply. No the power supply is fixed but the convergence has a problem. All the colors are mixed but sound is ok. When you connect the ATT connector from the tuner to the AV Board at the back it goes balnk, only OSD is visible. When you disconnect it it is fine but with the convergence problem.

When I connect it to my Sony DVD Player, it shows clearly but RED on the top left corner spills off. On TV Mode, via the Tuner or from the VCR or even the Rasta, really mixes the colors. What could be the problem or where should I ask my Tech to check?

The Convergence board is part no 23148300A model CM55P17HA and tv model is 61g9uxc

I have a Toshiba 55H70 Projection TV. Currently, on the bottom half of the screen, no matter if I go to 1080i picture size or standard, there is a fixed purple color warp bubble on the screen. I can still see images through it but it just stays that color. Also some images split, particularly text, where they appear once in green, once in red, and sometimes a third time in white. In addition, within this affected area some images have this purple and green aura around them. I tried to use the convergence function, but in the affected areas I could not because the target cross was beyond my range. So I could never align by red and blue crosses with it. Lastly, in the affected area the target crosses appeared warped also, so if I was able to align something on top of them I could not get a perfect match.

Don't replace the convergence board, but take it in and have the convergence amps replaced. That unit takes two stk392-110 IC's and are fairly inexpensive compared to replacing the entire module. In fact, ask to have them replaced with a more reliable stk392-150's...

Something is preventing the power supply from operating:
Possible causes in order of likelihood:
1) Convergence amps failed overloading the supply (See if you can disconnect them)
2) High Voltage circuit has died. (Right on schedule since your TV is 10 years old)
3) One of the CRTs has shorted
4) The power supply itself has died (Is there a lot of dust covering it?)
See if you can isolate the failure by working down the list.
Hope Ya Fix it!

No picture no sound and power light blinks.

Did you check the supply fuses to the convergence ICs? Did you check the output resistors
other wise i would replace the convergence ic first.

Power Problem

I had the same thing happen about a year after I bought this model in late 2001. I had to call in a repair person to get it fixed. It was, I believe, a convergence board that blew out. It cost about $400 for the repair but the TV has worked fine since. The repair person said this was a common fault at that time with these Toshiba rear-projection sets.
