Hello my friend, how are you? This is my solution and recommendation regarding on your problem:
Place the printer into diagnostic mode and exercise the paper feed.  Also paper failing to feed can cause a false semaphore to *** an error condition when the paper does not reach the test point time. The test point reports back a no paper condition and a jam is assumed to have occurred earlier in the paperpath.  Finaly, examine the paper path to make sure all flags are in the proper position.
and if this one is not working then try to reset your printer and kindly follow this step below: 1. Turn off the canon printer
2. Hold the resume Button (red circle in the triagle), add a printer (Click 'Power") an indicator light green.
3. Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button.
4. Not releasing the Power Button, double click 'Resume" and release Both Buttons.
5. Click "Resume" for four times.
6. Once you click "Power", to confirm the selected action(reset counter absorber).
7. To disable the printer "power" button click again.

And if all the above steps are tested and same the result is the same then you can reinstall the printer. To reinstall the printer kindly follow this steps:
1. Click start Button in your bottom part of the screen particularly the task bar.
2. Click Printer and faxes then click add printer.
3. Then kindly click Next Button and click Option "Automatically Printer" then kindly follow the steps given by your computer. If the search is successful it will automatically installed new printer which is the one replaced your old printer settings. But if it is not automatically detect the printer then yo can install it manually. then make the new istalled printer as the default printer to be used in printing.

I hope that this information given in the above would help you resolve your problem.
If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread and  if i have able to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post.... Thank you and more Power!

Paper jam in output tray is displayed but i cannot solve

When it says that it usually means there is a paper scrap in the sensor flag that is under the long gray roller. It is a black plastic tab toward the right side behind the white plastic guides that the paper comes out under. You need a flashlight to see it and you need to be careful not to break the tab.

Paper jam in canon MP600 Printer

If you cannot see the paper jam, perhaps it is inside the machine:

1) Open the rear cover and inspect the area for any bits of paper that might impede the paper path

2) On the front of the machine, pull out the cassette (paper tray) and inspect the cassette area for any paper jammed inside.

I have an error code 5100 on my MP600 Canon printer.

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

It thinks it is jammed when it is not

there has to be a tiny piece of paper stuck in there some where. It can be a very small piece. Check again, use a flash light if you have to, to get a really good view.

Paper jam

Remove the paper following the procedure below.
(1) Load a single sheet of the same paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder in portrait orientation.
Do not load it in the landscape orientation.
(2) Turn off the machine.
(3) Turn on the machine.
The paper is fed and then pushes out the jammed paper as it ejects.
If you cannot remove the jammed paper or the paper jam error continues after removing the paper, contact your Canon Service representative.

My canon MP600 PRINTER

There's a couple things you can try:

First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.

Double check that your ink tanks are seated right too

If you STILL have the error code, try these two types of resets:

To clear the memory:
  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
To do a stop/reset:

To clear error messages displayed on the LCD or if the printer is not functioning as expected, it may be necessary to simultaneously press Stop/Reset and ON/OFF buttons.
  1. With the printer powered on, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the <Stop/Reset> button then press the ON/OFF button.

  2. Once the printer is powered off, hold down <Stop/Reset> and then press <ON/OFF>.
If none of the above clears it up, you may have to have the machine serviced.. check to see if you are still under warranty.

Good Luck!
