I have same problem. I followed all the steps and found that the fire starts and works for about 2 to 4 mins and it shuts off automatically but the dryer still running with no fire. What could be wrong? Please let me know and would love to buy parts if possible. Thanks

Hi, the most common cause for the dryer not to heat is the fuse. Here is how to check it
UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.
If the dryer heats at first start up and then quits heating later in cycle, the coils on the gas valve are most likely bad. Here is how to change the coils,
UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post the coils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

I have a kenmore 70 series gas dryer. It won't

Check the thermal fuse and thermostats first, then the ignitor and the valve coils are the next possibilities.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

I havew a kenmore 70 series gas dryer that is running but no heat I changeged the coilkit and checked the thermostat and fuse all was fine but still no heat blower is running well also please help thanks

You mentioned the thermostat but not the thermal fuse. If that is ok then check the ignitor. If you have a meter and can verify there is voltage coming to the valve you can isolate the problem better.

Kenmore 70 Series

The most likely cause is a bad ignitor part number 279311. It has to glow to open the valve and ignite the gas. You should hear a loud click when you first start the dryer. That tells us there is voltage to the gas valve.

Kenmore dryer 70 series flame ignites, but goes out after 5 mins

If it's gas, the coil valves get weak and are unable to hold themselves open when hot. First, check the exhaust vent. If it's clogged, it can't remove heat and it will shut off prematurely. Most likely the coil valves though.

Dryer timer is not working and won't heat but runs fine

check the ignitor. That's a very common cause for no heat in a gas dryer. other possibilities are the coils, or it could be that you have a bad fuse in the dryer.
