The pto keeps disengaging but comes right back on when reset

I have a cub cadet 1515 and bought it used. When I was mowing it would disengage when going in reverse and come on when reset with the switch, then it stopped disengaging in reverse and randomly disengaging when going forward. It still comes right back on when reset but it is hard to cut because it happens often. I dont even know where to start looking.

I would check the clearence on the clutch you need a 10 thou feeler gauge and a 1/2 or 9/16 spanner there is 3 holes around the sides that is where you measure the clearence if too wide adjust the 3 nuts accordingly

Cub Cadet LT1042 PTO keeps shutting off after mowing several feet, will turn right back on but keeps shutting off

I have a Cub Cadet 1605 and it does the same exact thing. Try the PTO switch on the dash. I replaced mine and it works fine. Hope this helps.

Cubcadet LTX 1045 blades disengage for no apparent reason.

I don't think it's wiring. If it were, the PTO clutch should disengage.
In your case, it's not. To me, it sounds more like a mechanical load on the blades or possibly bearing gone in one of the blade pulley assemblies.

Cub Cadet 1861 amp light comes on when the PTO is engaged and after mowing for a short time the PTO disengages and now the 30 amp fuse blows and stops the engine

Sounds like you have a short circuit, either in the PTO clutch, or in the wiring that goes to it. Inspect the wiring for any obvious spots where insulation has rubbed off or burned. Also look at the wiring at the back of the PTO engagement switch for these signs. Before buying an expensive PTO clutch, unplug its connector. Drive around with the PTO switch on (even though the PTO won't activate and the blades won't be engaged). If the fuse doesn't blow, the problem must be within the PTO clutch. If the fuse still blows, it must be in the PTO switch or the wiring from there to the clutch. Use an ohmmeter to trace and find the short. Good luck!

Cub lt1045 while mowing pto keeps shutting off

I found that the safety switch under my seat was the problem for me. If I had to lean when going near hedges or low hanging branches, my PTO would disengage. I removed the safety on the seat and no problems since.

Cub Cadet LT1042 PTO won't disengage

If its an electric PTO then the switch on the dash is bad, Its a lever type ungagement then the little break shoes that rub on the blade spindles are either worn out or mis adjusted. If it started when you changed the blade drive belt its possibly the wrong belt??

The pto on my cub cadet 1515 cuts off. It will

Mine does the same thing. I've found that normally this is a heat-related problem and by removing all the clippings from the deck the blades will re-engage just fine until (unless) the clippings mount up again. Hope this helps; I make sure the deck is clean top and bottom before I mow.
