It smelled like the washing machine was on fire. It smelled exactly the same when you burn out a vaccuum belt. I have not tried to turn on the machine since. I need some help solving this problem and possible taking it apart. Thanks.
You most likelyhave burned a drive belt. Could be a couple things. If the machine was loaded to the max and a bit more, it is possible that a small article of clothes may have been flung into the outer tub and into the pump... this can freeze it up and the motor will keep trying to turn the belt against a frozen pulley.
You'll need to open the machine and check the pump for blockage and change the belt... let us know if we can help with procedures..
