Ice maker is not getting any water

How do i determine if the problem with the icemaker not getting any water is the solenoid or the signalling unit. because i thawed out the entire frig (doors open) for about 7 hours. so i don't think the water line is froze up. so essentially how do i check a solenoid or at least how do i trigger the electromagnet to see if the plunger is moving?

Icemaker not making ice

If no water is getting to ice maker either the water feed solenoid is not working, the water line is no good, or the cam mechanism of the ice maker is not switching the solenoid on.

Ice maker not working

This problem where the icemaker is not working properly is usually broken into sections on diagnoseing the issue of why your not getting ice out of the icemaker. One of the first things that you should check is if the icemaker is getting water to the ice tray. If you are not getting water to the ice tray then the first thing you should check would be your water filter. If your water filter is clogged or dirty you will not get any water going to the icemaker. Following checking the filter and if you still had no water going to the icemaker you would then go around the back of the machine and test the water valve. By using a multimeter you can test the two connectors that plug onto the solenoids to assure that you do have power going to the water valve. Also in some cases you may be able to disconnect the line and clean the small screens on the inside of the valve but most of the time if there is any issue with the valve it is by far easier to just replace the water valve itself. If you do have water going to the Ice maker yet your icemaker is still not working. You can also try defrosting the ice maker by disconnecting the three screws holding the ice maker in place and removeing the entire icemaker and running it under hot water. Sometimes this does help to defrost parts that are froozen in the unit. If after you reinstall the ice maker and you do have water going to the ice maker yet your unit still does not produce ice, and you can feel ice on the inside the tray and you have tried defrosting the ice maker. It is always easier and cheaper to replace the ice maker as a whole rather then buying parts for the ice maker which would cost you about Four times as much as buying a new icemaker

The ice maker is not working, but ice water dispenser operates

Try defrosting the fridge completely, this will tell you ifd the icemaker lines are frozen.

The ice maker is actuated by a solenoid.

To check if the lines are frozen , defrost the unit.

Check the water valve connected to the hose at the back of the unit.

The ice maker solenoid is tested by reading the ohms on solenoid with a multimeter.

Other faults can concern the impeller pump that is sending water to ice maker, that is tested by energizing the pump.

to disassemble the icemaker click the diagram below:

Have GSS201EPC WW and neither water nor Ice maker work. Water is connected and on and water solenoid "buzzes" when toggled. Icemaker also cycles. Water drips if solenoid activated and ice cubes...

If the solenoid valve buzzes you have an iced-up fill tube. Check where the water comes into the ice maker and try to determine if it is clogged. If so, defrost with a hair dryer, but make sure you turn off the unit before.

Ice maker not making ice for kenmore elite 795.5882

Hello there
first see it is or isnt getting water to the ice maker. which is fed by the water feed solenoid if there is , there is plenty of water pressure, and no blockage check really closly to see if there is any ice buildup on feed tube in freezer. if so remove every thing from inside and let the unit sit over night with it unplugged to fully defrost the entire thing
there might also be a problem with sending the signal to the solenoid to feed water to the maker. so you may want to have this checked out and finally if every thing in the ice maker works except its not getting water then i would have the icemaker electronics checked out to see if they are getting a signal

Icemaker not working

The ice maker valve is a dual one. with 2 solenoids. One solenoid operates the water and the other the ice maker. So if the water works that don't mean the ice maker supply is ok. The ice maker itself controls the flow of water. So if the water valve is ok then the ice maker is faulty. I have repair photos HERE

I have a Kenmore side by side elite. I have installed a new ice maker. I can not get water into the ice maker. The extraction teeth rotate and I get water through the water port on the door but not into...

Usually happends that the solenoid (electric valve who opends when the ice maker calls for water) leaks and this water freezes up inside the filling tube for the ice maker , t he solenoid has to be replaced.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Model ED25PW Ice maker tray not filling with water

Just had this issue - after checking all line connections, I pulled the ice maker feed water line from the back of the unit and found the tube was blocked with ice. Melted the ice with some hot water, and all is good once more. I would check for this before getting into the solinoid.

No water to the ice maker. No voltage to the inlet solenoid

icemakers work on a timed cycle and a timed fill. pressing the reset switch i would say solved your problem. I would switch the valves back to the way they were. The valve for the ice is smaller then the door water because the icemaker takes a small amount of water to fill. Good luck
