M602 Speaker Problem,.. Popping Sound

I have the same problem as others who have previously posted comments. My speakers make a popping sound, as if the power is being continously turned on and off for the M602 Altec Lansing speaker system for the iPod,.. It doesn't start off doing it, but after about 5 minutes the speakers shut on and off. I assume it's something to do with the power and not an actual physical problem with the speakers, because they sound great until the problem arises which is usually after about 5 minutes. Maybe i could simply buy a new adapter cord? If anyone has any ideas please let me know

This worked for me on my M604: Try inserting/removing a headphone plug into the jack several times to see if that clears the problem.

The "popping" sound is very similar to the sound that the unit makes when inserting headphones into the 'headphone' jack on the back of the unit.

The jack has a contact switch that triggers a relay inside the unit. If that contact switch is 'on the verge' of making contact, slight temperature changes may cause deform closer to it's contact target. The subsequent capacitance build-up and discharge across the gap could explain the cycle of popping noises after the unit warms up.

2010 VW CC factory stereo amp popping sound

If the amplifier itself is making the popping sound I suggest you disconnect it immediately, as it could be an electrical short within the amp. If the popping sound is actually coming from the speakers, it could be due to a crossed wire, blown amp channel, or blown speaker. If you posses the technical know-how, you can test the amp channel and speaker by connecting a different speaker to the channel responsible for the popping sound. If the new speaker makes the same popping noise then it is most likely a blown channel. I hope this helps =)

I have a powered sub for my surround sound and every now and then its starts crackling and popping. i can make it stop by playing with the volume knob or even tapping it sometimes. my old sub did the same...

Does the crackling and popping sound comes only from the sub, or from the other speakers too? Try switching of to check. I think that it is problem on volume control potentiometer. In that case all the speakers must sound crackling and popping. If the problem is only in the sub you have to check its connections.

Double check your connections at the transmitter. Swap inputs to see if the popping moves to the other speaker. Popping usually means blown, however......

It sounds as if the card itself may be physically bad. or you may have a microphone connected/something in your mic jack and you are picking up noise.

Centre speaker

Your center speaker is probably busted since you say you here an odd popping noise from it. You will need to get a new center speaker. It is not your sound card unless the same happens if you buy a new center speaker.

I use to get that same sound but only when I first booted up.
Is this only happening when you have the volume up and does it happen if you turn down the sound all the WAY not off
Your MIC could be enable and on boost level.
If you sound is popping from the music or other source is it from all the speakers???

Getting a loud " POPPING" sound

Switch the wires on the two speakers at the box and see if the problem moves to the other speaker. If the second speaker starts popping and the first one stops, the problem is in your amplifier. If the same speaker keeps popping then you probably have a blown sub.
