MINE DOES THE SAME THING. I JUST USE THE REMOTE (or a universal remote).

I have a Sony FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver model STR-DE325 that will not respond to volume up or down on the remote control. All of the other buttons on the remote work as they should and all functions of the...

No, I don't think there is a motor that is supposed to turn the volume - I think the volume is a push button type with one button to increase and another for down that is pushed by a clever rotary mechanism or if it isn't exactly like that the principle is probably a similar use of pure electronics.

It is clear the link between the infrared receiver and decoder and the volume electronics is broken and it will probably need a service engineer to discover where and effect a repair.

The power button broke I need a replacement.

You will have to go direct to Sony for that. Anything to with the mains power has to be replaced by approved parts by the maker. In this case Sony, due to safety (fire risk) reasons. Quote the model number and they should be able to tell you where to get the correct replacement part.

The equipment shutdown automatically and do not turn on i veryfy the fuse is good

Does it click when you press the power button? If so, and the fuse is good, could be your power transformer. There is a thermal fuse inside of it that can open and cause a no-power situation.

Sony CDX-GT320 FM / AM / XM Radio / Sirius Receiver missing sat option?

Check the connections between the head unit and the XM tuner. If the connections are good check for power and ground.

My receiver changes to "protect" then clicks off

Since you had to change the fuse to get it to power on, chances are you have a damaged receiver. You can try resetting the system (instructions below) but I doubt this will provide relief. When a system is doing what yours is, it is more often than not a sign of a short in the system causing excessive power consumption. Many times such problems in the final amplifier section, in the form of shorted output transistors. This most often happens from running with the wrong impedance load, shorted speakers connected, loud volume with inadequate ventilation (high heat conditions) or running the receiver without speakers connected.
Try resetting using the front panel controls. Power off. Then holding the 2 channel button down, power on. You see an abrv reset message. If after doing this you still have the same issue, it's time to investigate repair facilities or due to possibly high cost of repairs simply retire the unit and get another.

No audio output

Were you playing it very loudly when it died?

The manual is here for reference...

http://www.docs.sony.com/reflib/docget.asp?manualid=11654&template_id=1&region_id=1&DL=',600,560,10,10,'Manuals'

It discusses troubleshooting this problem on page 50.

When you turn the receiver ON does you hear a light click in about 5 seconds? That would be the protection circuitry turning OFF to allow the amplifiers to function. The delay is to allow the circuitry to stabilize before it sends any output to the speakers. If you don't hear a click the unit is Protecting the speakers due to malfunction somewhere.

If no click and no apparent messages try turning the speakers OFF using the Speakers button directly below the Power button (1/0). This will eliminate or point to external shorts as the cause.

Does the unit click after 5 seconds of Power ON with the speakers OFF? Isolate your shorted speaker or wire problem.

Still no sound at the speakers when you turn them ON?

We need to establish if there is any programming flowing through the receiver.

A quick basic check would be to tune an FM station, if you have a tape deck attached, place it in Record or Record/Pause mode so it can display the input signal levels. You should see the record meters fluctuating with the level of the program selected. If you don’t have a tape deck, run an RCA cable pair from the audio output for a tape deck to an analog audio input on your TV. Select that input on the TV and you should hear the FM station, or anything the receiver is configured to play. If it's silent then there is no audio signal circulating in the receiver to get out to the amplifiers.

If you hear the program on the TV but not through any attached speakers, then the amplifiers are all disabled for some reason.

If there is no audio flowing through the receiver the problem could be a switch in the wrong position, source not selected, muting on or a multitude of other things.

Let me know how this turns out.

No output on main speakers

I have experienced a similar problem with my Sony STR-GX57ES and took it to a certified tech only to find it needed the power supply replaced. I opted to hunt down a compatible power supply but have been unsucessful thus far. That being said I picked up an STR-D665 for next to nothing and found the power supplies to be quite different (you would hope so any, with the ES meaning Elivated Standard and all) but with the D665 working flawlessly I'd rather have something working than nothing. Good luck!
