Question about Nintendo DSi Black Console

1 Answer

My Dsi has a crack that you can only see when it is on

My Dsi works completely fine, and the screen physically is flawless when it's turned off; there are no cracks you can touch.
However, the screen seems to be cracked underneath. There is no visible crack in the glass/plastic; it hasn't been dropped or anything, and was working fine the other day.
It's split diagonally; the right has white lines over it but I can still somewhat read the text. There's a large, black shaped spot near the bottom, which is filled with some white holes.
So I was just wondering; is the Dsi completely screwed or can it be repaired? Is there any fix I could do at home, could I send it in, or should I just buy a new one?
I've had it since April, so only 2 months & it's still covered by warranty, but I was told that warranty does NOT cover "cosmetic damages".
The volume works, I can touch the screens, listen to music, and it can perform all the regular functions, but it's difficult to play games because everything's filtered through the lines and obscured by the black spot.

It can be repaired, however it can not be rpaired at home. If you were to send it in it would cost you about the same to buy a used one because this is what Nintendo would consider cosmetic damage. They don't tell you that the screens are one of the first things to break.

Sounds like the LCD digitizer which either broke inside OR became disconnected. If the impact was not enough to sustain a screen crack, and you have warranty with either LG or through your carrier, you can get LG to fix it free if there is no physical damage, cracked screen, or water damage, with your carrier, it would be the easy, just tell them the screen isn't broken, the phone is intact but the screen is blank. That is a hardware failure... they are supposed to be able to withstand some drops so it really depends on how much physical damage there is.

A digitizer LCD is not expensive and there are ways to change them fairly simple since the screen isn't cracked, you go through most LG phones via the back, remove the camera, remove a black cover that holds the sim and or memory card, BE CAREFUL and please look at youtube to see a complete disassembly of your particular LG phone.

I would make sure to keep track off all the parts when disassembling. If you have nothing to lose I say go for it. At least to see what's going on inside. Good luck!

My son said he spilled soda on his dsi... it didnt get that wet but i think he dropped it. The bottom screen is a little faded and has lines in it. it still plays. is there a way to fix the lines?

No there is really no way to fix it unless if you ask the creator of of the dsi because the drop sorta cracked the screen of it. Depending on the side, top, bottom, back, where ever, it still cracks not necessarily crack but it has been to the point when it can't be fixed. The same problem happen to me except the case was that I dropped it a little more harder and the screen totally went black.

I bought a dsi and it came with a broken screen and i wanted to know if you can send me a new one please does not handle warranty claims or any sort of replacement support for Nintendo products.
Please read Nintendo's warranty policies.
Note that they do not cover physical damage, such as cracked screens. Your best bet would taking it back to the store you bought it from.

My DSI has a crack on the top screen and my warrenty expierd what shoud i do

If the crack makes the DSi unusable then you may be able to find a replacement top screen online.

Since your warranty has expired, this might be your best option if it has become unusable. Screens will be around $20 which is much less expensive than an entirely new console.

I opened my DSi and turned it on and there were tons of cracks and there was a dark blobbish thing on the top screen.

I have seen this before. It happens when pressure is applied to the top screen when the system is closed. Try exploiting the warranty and getting it fixed by Nintendo. You could replace the top screen your self but it is kind of difficult, and is dangerous to the DS.

Voyager touch screen has crack and cannot view touch creen

It's caused from the phone being in a confined space, therefore a physical problem, just pay the $50 and since it still works just wait for a new one.

No response at all from Camera

a flexible connector cable may have worked loose , causing the camera to not power up - or , any of a number of microfuses may have opened to protect your camera but none of it is user serviceable ( near 8 years of flawless use says - you have taken excellent care of it );
