Arcam avr-250 shuts off?

New problem?

Did you move it recently? Sometimes the speaker wires are stripped too long and short out against each other in the back

Disconnect EVERYTHING from the unit but please take great care to document how everything is connected so you can connect it again the same way.

IF the unit powers on fine with everything dis-connected, I can assume that you have a connections problem with the speaker wires being the most likely culprit.

Make sure your speaker wires are not stripped too long where bare copper is touching other terminals OR make sure the speaker wire is pushed cleanly into the speaker connections without stray wires to cause a short.

Also make sure you have the speaker wires connected to the proper terminals and are not mis-wired into the wrong terminals.

IF it still shuts down after a few seconds with nothing connected then there is an internal problem that will need to be repaired.

Good luck.

Installing a speaker on the passenger front door on my acura tl 2005. There is a red and blue wire!! Which color in positive and which is negative??

As far as i know the "RED" wire is usually the Positive + wire on those cars

But if you really want to be 100% sure you can do this little test..

(This is assuming that you are removing the stock speaker and replacing it with a better one? )

Anyway just look at the old speaker with the wires plugged into it like it was before and make a note of witch wire goes to what connector on the speaker
Then disconnect the wires and touch the two terminals on the speaker with a 9volt battery and if the polarity on the battery is correct on the speaker it will move outward and if it is reversed then it will move inward... that is a good way to determine the polarity of the speaker itself then you can look to see witch wire goes to what connector on the speaker and that should tell you which wire the positive one is

Hope this info helps

Need speakers for a 2001 Saturn L300

Your best bet for replacing with OE components, without going to a dealer and paying their prices, is to visit your local salvage yard and pull them out (if you can do that). My local yard only charges $4 per speeaker, regardless of size or specification.

Aftermarket replacements will require some wiring to the extent that you'll need to change the plug-end on your existing speaker wiring to female blade terminals that will plug onto the aftermarket speakers. The speakers will work well with your OE head unit, though. There is no need to replace anything other than the speakers and the wire connectors when upgrading your audio components for replacement purposes only.

I don't have the information for speaker size in front of me, but I can find it if you need it.

Hello Elan, You will need to have the device dissasembled and checked for a loose connector to the mainboard. Those 2 components are linked to the mainboard via a ribbon like cable that may not be making a perfect electrical contact. It'a a cheap repair, you don't have to worry, other than that if the device is still in warranty it will be made for free.
