Do you get the power up jingle? If so, you may have a hefty problem. That could be from a variety of places. If you don't, the first thing to check/replace is the bulb. From there move on to the ballast and then onto the color wheel. Look at the back of the set, on the right hand side is an access panel, its held in place by one screw. Remove the screw and you'll see the silver lamp housing inside, there are two gold screws on either side. Loosen them, they wont come completely out, and use the black handle to pull the lamp housing straight out toward you. There wont really be a sure fire way to tell if the bulb is bad. The filament that actually burns is inside the glass tube that comes from the middle of the bowl. The wire you see inside the tube is flat and very thin. Just below that tube will be a round bulb shape. If you see white looking powder in that tube, you bulb is likely bad, but as stated, there isn't always a tell tale sign that the bulb is out. Order a new one. I recomend rivervalleyelectronics.net, they allow returns if the bulb turns out to not be your problem. The bulb will come out of the housing fairly simply, with just a few screws. Replace, reverse and fire it up. Post back with the results or email me directly and I'll take you onto the next step if this doesn't fix the tv.

- This set is if you've determined that as Wizardtex stated, isn't influenced by using a different input. Jun 29, 2009
- Did you try and swap inputs? Use the composite AV's and see if if makes a difference. You may still get the jingle if the Color wheel motor is failing but not frozen. Do you hear any odd noise comming from the back of the tv? Jun 29, 2009
- Does the lamp stay lit the entire time or does it turn off? I don't me this to come across as short, but I need to make sure you're looking at the actual color wheel. You won't be able to see the color wheel with the lamp in place. If you remove the lamp and look into through the glass it shines into you'll see a portion of the color wheel. If you bypass the door switch (tape works fine) and powe one the tv, you may get the color wheel to spin. Is this what you're seeing?Jun 30, 2009
- If you remove the lamp housing you will have to find and bypass the lampdoor switch. The easiest way to do this is to take the back panel off the TV. I don't remember if there is a lamp sensor on this tv. It would be a simlar type of switch near the optics block that would sense if the lamp housing is in place. If you bypass both switches you will be able to see the color wheel spin briefly (if its operating correctly). The color wheel looks like a baseball sized pie made of three different colors of glass. - Replacing all the various cables is a bit of a challenge, if you're sure you got everything connected, try manually bypassing the lamp door switch and see if that fires the lamp. If thats not the problem check your ballast to make sure its plugged in, there is a small detection wire that plugs into the daughterboard on the ballast. Make sure thats in place too.
