My hp pavilion a820n computer will turn on but won't start up

As the computer is starting up keep hitting F8 until you come to the boot options screen. Once in the boot options select "Last Known Good Configuration" and see if it will start. If it still will not start then try and see if the computer will boot in safe mode (Do the F8 thing again until you reach the boot options screen again and click on "Safe Mode").
If it will not load into safe mode then you may need a Windows O/S Reinstall.

The laptop stays on for few minutes and then it turns itself off but before it does that, it shows a large blue scree and some large white text, the text flicks a little but fast to the point where I can...

First of all Turn of your laptop.
Now this time when you turn on your laptop start tapping F8 Key on you keyboard when you Toshiba logo. Tap F8 key for at least 5-6 times.
You will get a Windows Advance Option Menu. You will see lot of options over their written in white text. Your mouse will not work on this screen. Use UP and DOWN arrow keys on you keyboard and highlight Last known good configuration. Once highlighted press enter on it. See if you computer boots. If it boots try doing a restore.
If it doesn't boot.
Turn off your computer and then turn on your computer. On Toshiba Logo screen tap F8 key once again and go to windows advanced option menu screen once again and this time hightlight Disable automatic restart on system failure. Now when you see Blue screen coming up on your computer once again your computer won't restart. Now you can write down the information to trace out the blue screen that is occurring on your computer. Write down the Error code which will be in form of STOP 0x000000XX, you find this error code somewhere at the bottom of the blue screen.
Once you get the reply here, we will see what we can do.

My computer won't turn on properly. It keeps saying disk error press control alt delete. When I do it just says it again and again. It won't load and turn on.

First you should check if there is any disk on your cd room, if there is any disk you should remove the disk from the cd room, if there is no disk the possibility is your hard drive getting error
Press f2 or delete to enter your bios set up system
Look for boot menu
Set the first boot as a HDD and the second boot as cd room and disable the third boot
Save and Exit the setting
if your computer still won't load you need to reinstall your windows
insert windows cd and go to set up again by pressing f2 or delete button
Set the first boot as cd room then the second boot as HDD
Save and exit the setting again
When the message press any key to boot from cd appears you should press the space bar or another key
Then just follow the instruction of formatting

Upon powering on the system won't go past the boot

> problem with barebone system
> asks for a password in the Setup

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Look on the motherboard for three pins in a row, with a jumper between #1 and #2.
Move that jumper to connect #2 and #3. Count to ten.
Move that jumper back to #1 and #2.
The motherboard has been reset to its "factory" settings, i.e., NO password.
Connect the AC power.
Turn the computer on.
Press <DEL> to enter Setup.
It should NOT ask for a password.

When i turn on my computer it takes me straight to American Megatrends. What is this? It also says to Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selcted boot devic and press a key. It all...

Try to check if you have a diskette or usb thumbdrive on your computer. If there is, remove them first then reboot computer again. This is because your system, whichever is the first boot up device doesnt see any system bootup files on it.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using Fixya.

No good computer stuck no good i say

While the pc is powered on, load the windows cd into the cd rom and restart the pc by pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys, when the pc reboots you should see a black screen with white letters asking you to press any key to boot from the cd.

Carefully following the options install Windows and then to repair the operating system. NOT the repair console option.

If you are not asked to do a repair then stop as this solution wont work and you will likely need to reinstall Windows.

At this point windows should repair any damage files and reboot. Following the reboot, do not press any key, instead wait for Windows to boot normally, you can remove the cd after Windows boots.

I turn the computer on. It goes to memory check

Hi
My first thought is that this is a RAID level 1 machine with only one hard drive. This is a very popular configuration. This makes it a little harder to work with the hard drive. You will need your original drivers i.e. RAID, to do anything with the hard drive or operating system. You'll need to download the SATA driver that corresponds to your hard drive. Once done that driver needs to be installed on a CD or a floppy disk (if that's installed). Now when you boot from the Windows CD very early on it asks to press F6 to install additional drivers. At this point once F6 is pressed you'll put in your new driver CD or floppy. Now the system and Windows should recognize your hard drive and you can move on from there. Good luck
