Kill the job on computer that sent the print job. If the job fails to clear you can stop and start the print spooler

Right click My Computer > Manage > Services.
Right click Print Spooler > Stop then Start. That should clear the job.

Same principle pertains to a network printer, but needs to be done print server.

I have to restart the print spooler, deleat the printer and re-install the printer in order to get it to work. This is after I turn the computer off and back on. This is the only way I print anything.

check your settings both in the computer and software in the printer properties. Turn off the spooler setting and have the printer print directly to the computer.

Not accepting command to print. The printer is OK.

Go to control panel, printers, find the printer you have, right click, see properties, bottom of page print test, see what happens. Did it ever print. Deleate printer, turn computer off turn on XP or Vista should find printer and install. Then test again as above.

Printer locks up

  1. Click Start, Printers and Faxes and double-click on the Lexmark printer driver.
  2. Open the Printer menu and select Cancel All Documents. This will purge the print queue so as to allow the printer to print or uninstall the driver.
  3. If the print jobs are not removed from the queue, click Start, Run, type Net Stop Spooler, and press ENTER.
  4. Click Start, Shutdown, and select Restart. The documents or the print jobs should be removed.
If you are having difficulty deleting the print jobs in the printer spooler, do the following:
  1. Restart the PC in "safe mode". To do this:
    1. Click Start, Shut Down and select Restart.
    2. While the PC is restarting, press the F8 key on the keyboard. Note: Do not hold down the key down, but be aware that you may need to press it several times.
  2. When in safe mode, click Start, My Computer.
  3. Double-click on the (C:) drive.
  4. Double-click on the Windows folder.
  5. Double-click on the System32 folder.
  6. Double-click on the Spool folder.
  7. Double-click on the Printers folder.
  8. Select the contents of this folder and click Delete.

No Connection Sign

HI Gymap,

you can check the status of the printer in control panel, printer and faxes, in XP and in windows 98 or ME go to printers in control panel.

if the printer status shows paused or off line, then double click on the printer and then click on file then click on use printer off line and that should change the status.

If still no go then make sure there are no documents in the printer que when you double click on the printer icon, then deleat the printer icon and disconnect the usb cable of the printer and restart the computer, then connect the cable, that should fix the problem.

Let me know if you still have any issues.

take care bye
