Can t get on line on my ps3

The PS3 is plug n play and if your router is as well then it will configure the firewall automagically. However, often the older routers just don't play well together. You need to open up ports manually and configure the router and firewall separately for each game you want to play. Each game has specific TCP and UDP ports that need to be opened up to allow access. Its not a trivial exercise. You need to statically assign an I{P address to the PS3 and direct traffic from the router to the PS3 IP address for those games you want through. Each game has the details on which ports to open on the website or in the instructions. Lots of luck

The router was open two days ago when I was playing the xboxlive suddenly the next day it changed to strict how can I change it back to open so I can play with my friends online?

Basically what happend is NAT closed instead of being open NAT. You have to log in to the router ip address in your web browser and set it to open nat. You get your router ip address by going to the command prompt and typing ipconfig. You can google this procedure or consult Netgear as they can walk you through it easily. Youtube has videos on how to open Nat on many different brand of routers. Now you know the problem and what the answer is please rate and comment!!! Thanks.

How do i change my NAT setting to open

On your router you can try to reduce the MTU settings .
If MTU is 1500 then make it 1365.
Also disable the firewall on the router.
You will also need to open the port number for the gaming Device.
You want the NAT open for the X-box or Play station ?
For this you will need to access the router set up.
After opening the ports , power cycle the router.
I hope the following link will help you.

Netgear Firewall

with the router connected, open Internet Explorer and type after you log in there is a option on the left for firewall and you can turn it off. If it were me I would use the routers firewall over a software firewall though. By the time a software firewall detects a hack, its already in the PC.
