Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Kodak Easyshare After about 200 prints over several days the printer said "needs new color cartrige" (hardly used it), changed cartrige, same message and printer would not turn off. Have downloaded "fix" , (this was sold on basis of being a stand alone printer) error comes up, then there are new problems, will do print, HA, just spit out blank papers, endlessly.Long story short, many hours with "help" line, have received 1 new print head, then a new printer. The new one lasted about 50 prints, same problems, they are sending second new printhead. Only thing in common to these two printers is the power cord. The "help" brushed this off, I did not have time to persue it farther, I do not think new print head is going to solve the problem. This is one very dissatisfied customer.

in this case it's a failure of the printhead. Go to and choose All-in-one printer - Print quality. Follow the steps and if it not helps you can order a printhead for free.

Its a brand new ink color cartrige and all colors print but the red.

Try this: Step-by-Step Solutions and Repair - Maybe you need to clean the print head. Sometimes you have to clean it a few times to get it working correctly (which in my opinion is a waste of ink!) - Might be a bad print head, I have had to replace mine twice now. Just call Kodak, they will have you do some tests on your printer, and then if it's your print head they will send you a new one.

My printer again skips lines when I print. Also there is no red even after changing cartriges. It will print without skipping in the highest quality mode, but still no red. Several months ago you sent me a...

try replacing the other cartridges, I had the same problem except the printer auto printed red, the problem was that it only allowed me to print some colors because the other ones were empty.

Not printing full photo

  1. Open the cartridge door on the side of the printer.
  2. Remove the color cartridge from the printer.
  3. Check to make sure there is no slack in the color cartridge ribbon. To remove slack, push in on the cartridge spool, then rotate the spool clockwise. IMPORTANT: Be careful not to rotate the spool more than necessary. Doing so could reduce the number of prints you are able to make.
  4. Slide the color cartridge in, label side up, with the arrow pointing toward the printer. Push the cartridge until it "clicks" into place.
  5. Close the cartridge door.
  6. Print a picture.

Ink cartrige-printing

I think you are not getting the correct colors, in which case I would suggest you to either call Kodak support center to get help to fix the problem (which most likely will end up in your printhead being replaced at no charge) or you can go to the website ( to replace it yourself with the troubleshooting online

Kodak EasyShare 5100 stopped printing in black

1-800-421-6699.. That is the number for Kodak. They will replace your printhead for you. I've been dealing with this same thing. Along with replacing the printhead they are sending black and color ink. All Free! I'm really excited. The people are very friendly and helpful. They know what they're doing. BTW, the replacements should be here in 3-5 days.

Will not print in color

Go to Kodak website,look for support, and repair. Online testing will probably determine that a new printhead is needed and they will probably send you a new one. My printer is only 9 months old and it has same problem.

Kodak EasyShare 5100 won't print

I have had the same frustrating problem.
I cntacted the Kodak live web chat help line and after removing the print head,switching the machine off for 1 min and reconnecting.Clean heads and recalibrate.
.....Still the same.
They then told me the print head was faulty and to contact Kodak for free repalcement.
