You have a siphon condition. The outlet of the drain tube needs an air gap between it and the water for anti-siphoning installation.

Check that your house drain is not plugged or that the trap is not obstructed - preventing the air gap from forming properly and backflowing into your washer.

Constantly runs the drain pump when started

You don't list the make or model or age but has it always done this? Some models will automatically run the drain pump first as part of their programming before starting the actual cycle. Then, the unit will sense the load, start adding water steadily until the correct amount is reached(based on sensed load size), then wash. However, if the drain pump is being initiated at the wrong time, or stays on and no water is able to stay in the tub, there could be a problem with the water level sensor--it thinks water is already in the tub. This usually happens from a blocked water sensor tube(a plastic tube that is connected from the bottom of the washer tub to the water level sensor). Or, the problem might be with the main washer control board.

Clothes washer will fill with water but will go into wash cycle

The heater or the pressure switch are faulty. Cannot tell you more without knowing the make or model number. You can empty the washer by pulling the drain tube out from behind the drain filter flap located at front bottom. Get a bucket and empty the drain tube into the bucket by removing the hole plug at the end of the drain tube.

How to reset my washer, I am having problems with the washer, it does not want to spin on the final cycle; however it does wash. what could possibly be wrong and how can I fix this?

Please remove power for a while and allow unit to drain out the residual voltage so as to reset. Now press down the start /stop buttons prior to plugging the unit. Select a different program and see the timing of the water low into the inlet and in the drain cycle. If you notice that the flow is low then clean or replace the inlet valve, check the water level controller to stop inlet flow and start wash and finally the drain and refill for rinse spin. if not there is an error in the program for the refill and must be checked on the drain and level controller.

The washer leaves water remaining in drum after the entire wash cycle, it becomes stale and makes my clothes that I was smell. My father's front loader, GE, does not leave any water in the drum

Hello

Check the drain tube,it needs to be 30 inches above the floor.

Also if the drain tube from the washer is too far into the drain the washer will not drain completly. The drain tube should be 1 inch into the wall drain.

Also check for kinks or obstructions in the washer drain tube.

Hotpoint washer fills begins to agitate then refills continously.

Very likely your drain hose is set too low. You can solve this with a standpipe or a kit called a siphon break.
