Ok this is because you don't use it alot.what you need to do is to keep it on your comps usb and it will always have battery when you need it.

Is it possible to replace the battery in my Sony MP3 Walkman model NWZ-E464

From the user guide:
  • When usable battery life becomes half the usual time, even after charging the battery fully, the battery should be replaced.
  • Consult your nearest Sony dealer.
This would lead me to believe the battery is replaceable.

Won't turn on unless on computer

The battery inside the player is not taking or holding a charge.
While it gets power through the USB port, it works, but the battery is not getting recharged.

Whenever i plug the battery into the charging it shows it is charging but when i get it out after hours, it goes off for lack of charge.

the battery is shot, batteries only have a limited life and amount of charges, yours is not holding its capacity so will only charge poss 25% replace the battery (ebay for a new one) and you should be good to go for hours again.
hope this helps

Battery charge is finished very soon without even using it( in about 5 hours)

The proper way of charging the battery on your phone is by waiting for your phone to indicate that it's running out of powe but not completelyr, if you frequently charge your phone even if it's not yet necessary(battery life indicator show half-way) the ability of the battery to store power will deminished hence the battery life is shorter. Last resort would be trying another battery unit to test if it's your battery of your phone that's causing the unsual battery drain.

Or you can try the following steps on conserving your phones battery life;

  • Turn off your Infrared and BlueTooth when not in use. Even when they are not in use, they do keep drawing power looking for signals.
  • Switch off the vibration alerts. Vibration causes a lot of power usage thereby making battery drain fast.
  • Re-adjust your screen brightness to around 50%. Screen power is another silent killer.
  • Usually, presetted Backlight durations are of pretty high order, this can be readjusted to get more from your battery. Try reducing the Backlight duration.
  • Often we don’t understand that playing games requires Light, Sounds and Shakes. This in turn leads to tripling of battery drainage.
  • Lower Ringing and other message sounds. This too helps saving a lot of battery.
  • Finally, do charge your battery before it gets drained fully. This enhances battery life.

Dying battery

I would recommend running the battery till it is flat, by playing it for as long as possible, at full volume. Then charge it up for ages, maybe all night. To minimize battery wastage change the brightness to minimum and the display to 15 seconds. The reason the battery dies is because of excessive pressing of buttons. If this fails take your player to one of the specialist Sony Places that will fix it. I believe these are listed in the warranty or the manual that came with the player.
