You may have seen this already, but I went to RedOctane.com and found the instructions listed below. It looks like that if all of your attempts fail, you can request a warranty replacement. I really hope this helps in your guitar woes.
Try the following:
Verify that your guitar is connected to the PS3 by looking for the red indicator light above the strum bar.
If the indicator light is not lit please refer to the following page for directions on how to sync your guitar to the console.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the wireless dongle, then restarting the system.
If the buttons are not functioning in the game or behaving oddly
please press the lever on the back of the guitar at the base of the
neck and remove the neck from the guitar. Then plug the neck back into
the guitar.
Check to see if the guitar button in question is functioning in
the Playstation 3 XMB (the strum bar should scroll you up and down, the
fret buttons act like the buttons on the controller and are labeled on
the side of the neck, etc)
If the strum bar is registering extra hits try keeping a finger on
the strum bar while playing the game instead of flicking it with your
fingers/hand.
Try replacing the batteries in the guitar.
If after trying all troubleshooting options you find that
your Red Octane product is still non-functional, then you can submit a
warranty replacement by selecting your country from the drop down below
for the warranty submission information for your region. You can also
call us at 1-800-205-4713 in the US and Canada, but please note that
this is for new warranty replacement requests only. If your country is not listed in the drop-down below or you need
help with an existing RMA then please click on "Ask a Question" in the
tab above to submit an incident to us, and we will be able to help you
with your issue.

Could be that your batteries are dead.
When the batteries are too low to operate the guitar, the lights on either the PS3 or XBOX 360 versions will simply blink a few times then disconnect and shut down.
Replace the batteries with freshly charged AA's or brand new Alkalines.
Hope this helped
i know exactly how it feels to have something totally awesome and then it messes up. so try this and i hope it works!!
try: 1.turning off guitar, plug in adaptor to system, turn on guitar 2. change out the batteries (and check if batteries are secure.) i hope i helped let me know how it works
OK mate what you need to do is, theres a little button just right of memory slot B on your xbox 360 press that and at the same time (making sure the guitars on) hold down the little round button near the bit where yuo put the headset in and hold it down until the xbox picks it up :)
Make sure that you've synced the Wimote with the Wii. you can do this by pressing the red button on the wii by the SD Card slot and press the red button on the Wiimote under the battery cover. You can also sync the Wiimote's by pressing the home button, clicking on the Wiimote on the screen, and then clicking Reconnect the Wiimotes I believe. When doing this, just hold down the 1 and 2 button. If your Wiimotes don't need to be sync then theres most likey something wrong with your Guitar Hero Guitar. that's the only other possible outcome I think. Unless then Nunchuck hookup is somehow broken. Doubtful though. Those Wiimotes are FEIRCELY strong. My dog, who can chew though a hard plastic chair, could only leave dents in the Wiimote he chewed on. (Bad Dog!) Hope you get it working!
take the battery cover off the wii controller and press the red button. then open the cover at the front of the wii and press the red button. do this when you are at the wii menu. this registeres the remote
i'd say that u should get it checked out by somone and plus right when u opent the box their is a warrenty in it so go to that place and it will fix it for you or you will get a new one
