Sony Bravia does not recognize my Dell Inspiron 1525

I am using an HDMI cable to connect my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop to my Sony Bravia tv and it doesnt get a signal. It recognizes that an HDMI cable is plugged in on the input menu, but the screen says "No signal. Check the external input or select another input using the INPUT button." Any ideas?

I have the 1525 and you have to do extra steps each time you want the HDMI to be recognized by the Bravia - too bad it is not automatic as it is with some. Anyway what you have to do is have the HDMI cable connected from laptop to TV then go to your desktop - right click on an open area (away from icons), a menu will appear, let the cursor hover over Graphics Options - you'll then see Output To...then you'll see Intel Dual Display Clone...hover over that and you'll then see Notebook + Digital Television...left click on that and you should see your desktop on the TV in a few seconds. If it does not work the first time...get your movie or whatever you want to show up and ready and go thru these steps again...stupidly complicated aye? when it should automatically detect and show...are other TVs like this?

You may have to have the TV input set to the HDMI port you are using on the TV ie: if it is plugged into HDMI 2, have that selected on your TV input before going thru these steps.....oh also, I have found that the sound does not go thru the HDMI even tho I understood it should. So I hook up external speakers to my 1525 to get decent sound. I think you can go into audio setting on your TV to get the sound thru HDMI but I find it easier to just hook up a killer big sound system to the 1525.

HDMI output not working

This might not be your specific Laptop it might give an insight into the problem and guide you to installing it

The 15.4 inch display on your Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop computer works well for basic computing, but its 1280 x 800 pixel XGA display can't compare to the image produced by a high-definition television. The Inspiron 1525 features several output ports that allow you to easily connect the computer to your HDTV. This makes it convenient to use video streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu to watch movies on your television.

Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the left side of the computer, just in front of the RJ-11 modem cable port. Attach the other end of the cable to the HDMI port on your HDTV. The exact location will vary among the various brands and models, but it should be on the rear panel. Select the HDMI option on the television's video source menu. Most televisions have a source button on the remote that makes changing the input source easy. Turn the computer on. Once it boots, open the control panel and select "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Display Settings" followed by "Advanced Settings." Select the "Intel" tab and click the "Graphics Properties" button. Choose the "Intel Dual Display Clone" option and close the windows. What you see on your computer screen will also appear on the television. Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom-left of the screen and select "Playback devices." Select HDMI in the list of devices and click "Set Default" in the bottom of the window.

Dell insperon 1525 no sound or picture to tv with new hdmi cable connected , it worked fine yesterday but now i can get nothing , it doesnt even show on the tv that the laptop is connected to the tv

When you connect the laptop to the tv with the HDMI cable you will need to press function and F1/F2 depending on your keyboard layout. It is the key with 2 screens on it.
Once you press that windows will show you options for changing displays like Duplicate, Extend, Monitor, Projector(in this case Projector is the TV)
And for audio, you will need to right click on the volume mixer in the system tray and say playback devices. Click on the hdmi one and say set as default.
When this is done, everytime you plug in the HDMI to the TV it will automatically play audio from the TV.

There is usually a keyboard combination to switch between the laptop screen and your TV.

The keyboard toggle is done by holding down the Fn key and pressing one of the F keys (between F3 and F6).

Good luck.

I have an LCD Sony Bravia KLV-46V400A, and a Dell Laptop both TV and PC have HMDI connection, i pluged them both using HDMI cable, however i am unable to view anything on my TV screen and nothing on my pc.

make sure that your pc is shutdown(off) when you plug the hdmi cable in your tv. First, plug hdmi cable into tv and turn on tv. Next, power up pc and it should see your tv. There should be an option on the pc to set the output a projector.

What kind of cable do I need to connect Bravia 40 inch to Dell inspiron 6000.

You need an HDMI cable to connect the 2 devices. Probably, your Bravia is shipped with that cable. Just make sure that your laptop has an HDMI port built-in.

Dell Laptop - Inspiron 1525

Hi there.
I'm sorry to say but it sounds like there has been a massive power surge causing the motherboard to fry, there is no doubt that this has caused serious damage which is probably now beyond economical repair.
If you have any warranty on the laptop then i suggest you take advantage of that and send it in for repair, the only other options you have is pay Dell for the repair or purchase a new laptop.

Thanks for choosing FixYa!!
