Hello, Go to Automobile.com for recall info on this Model. I understand one of the engines has bad heads and there is a silent Recall for these. The heads warp and the oil gets into the cylinder and is drawn into the combustion chamber. Eventually things get plugged up and the plugs fail.
I would suggest that you scan the computer for fault codes. There are different sensors that control ignition and fuel and any one of these sensors can cause the car to stall and refuse to start. The crankshaft positioning sensor could be the cause if it has failed completely. The check engine light may be burned out , therefore no warning lights.
Sounds like low automatic transmission fluid. Have you checked the fluid level. Have you noticed it leaving spots where it's parked?
We used to have an Audi A4 wagon and the transmission was always reliable for us. We always kept it well serviced. Audi's (like all high performance cars) need very regular service and attention to be kept going well.
Start by checking the fluid level, some of these dont have a dip stick and get low on trany fluid and cause this problem, i would start with that first then scan computer to see if any codes are stored and last would be an over haul of trany.
