HP Pavilion Laptop -- massive power problems?

hello chad
Seem to be circuit issue.
You can check charger with volt meter to check its working ok.

Drain all resistors of power by removing battery and charger and holding down power button for 10 seconds.

There is a power button board that can be bad.

I like to break things down by just powering the laptop with memory and keyboard, power button board only. this will require removing motherboard power button board so it will only be the parts to POST.
Minimal Post .
It can be an array of things from the systems casing shorting it out to other hardware.

My hp pavilion dv1000 is burning the chagers

Then you have an internal Power Supply fault. This needs to be repaired. Probably by replacement of that PS sub-board.

I have a hp pavilion dv1000 laptop and it randomly hibernates

Go to the control panel > Power Options, click on the hibernation tab and uncheck it. Click on apply and ok. Hibernation can damage older HP systems such as the DV1000 that is running XP, make sure it is turned off and also go through the power settings and change the setting for closing the lid on the laptop. Change the setting to "Do Nothing". This will keep your system from getting corrupt.
