Electric guitar wiring diagrams

www.seymourduncan.com is a professional resource that offers diagrams of nearly every electric possibility (# of volume and tone knobs, switch types, and pickup types). There are others sites, but SD is the most complete.

Tone knob and switch info

the switch, has three positions. Typically forward or up will be your neck (or rythm) pick ups, only and will work with one volume knob(usually top right as your looking at guitar), and one tone knob ( top left as your looking at the guitar). when the switch is in the far right or all the way down position, that will be the saddle (or lead) pick-ups. And that works with only one volume knob(bottom right as your looking at the guitar) and the corresponding tone knob. when the switch is in the middle position, botjh volume knobs work and both tone knobs work. You've gotta kinda play around with them to find whatever sound yopur looking for. and tone knobs are very subtle in their changes. good luck

One of the wires, (black), of my volume knob has come loose from somewhere; Where?

Yes, one will be an earth, one to the cord socket tip (that one is OK as does play), and one as you have said. It sounds like the wire to the tone pot has come off.

the knob closest to the neck is your volume. And the other two are tone. one is tone for bridge p/u & other is tone for Lead p/u. which is which can vary. you'll just have to listen. hope this helps

Will volume and tone knobs for a Gibson fit on a Washburn HB30? Is the shaft and spline the same?

Yes, Some gibson electric's have long shaft pot's, they will still fit but you will need to use another nut to adjust the pot's so they do not stick through the body to far. Knobs should fit unless the old gibson's are solid shaft. Then you will need new knobs. Many guitar parts places on net to order standard pots and even wiring kits. Try Allparts, , www.guitarelectronics.com/,, Guitar ******, then www.stewmac.com/

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst, and it's pretty new and has worked great until now. It seems my bridge pickup lost tone and volume for some reason. My volume and tone knobs are cranked...

Need more info: 1- does the volume control still change the level? 2-Does tone control still change the tone? 3- What happens when in the center position on pickup select switch? Put pickup switch in center position (both pickups active). Then take a coin and tap on the pickups. Does bridge pickup sound lower? Lastly remove rear electronics cover and inspect all wiring for something loose or disconnected.

I am looking for a manual (if there is one) for the Epiphone Sheraton II. I need to know which knobs do what (and also the three way switch) on the guitar. The guitar came with no manual!!

Most likely it is wired like most Gibsons. The volume knobs are the two at the neck end, the tones are the two nearest the rear. The lower two are volume and tone for the bridge pickup, the upper two are for neck pickup. Switch down is bridge or lead pickup, switch up is for neck or rythym pickup, and centre position is both pickups one, where all knobs can be used together.

Black cables loose

Does the jack have any wires connected to it? Can you tell where the disconnected wires originate? Typically, the wire from the middle ear of the volume pot should go to the tip of the jack, and the wire from the back of the tone pot goes to the sleeve of the output jack. You will get no output if either of these wires are disconnected. Also, the next question is "why" did they come loose? That's usually because one of the pots is not tightened down, and is allowed to spin when the volume or tone knob is turned, breaking the wire's contact. Pull the knob off the pot, and tighten the nut down so the pot can't turn. This will assure you won't have the same problem again.

Peavey signiture EX wiring

if the signature ex has any special plugs then the actuall diagram for that guitar is needed. but if it uses the standard two or three potential meter ( volume knobs and tone knobs or (pots) ) with a pick up selector and an input. then you can use any guitar wiring diagram and i think you can find that on web. wiring the pick up should be shown in the diagram with the pick up selector.
