I believe you have posted in the wrong category. This is camera flashes -- another sideline of Vivitar. Please look for the category for memory card (USB) adapters.

How do i use a vivtar 50-in-1 hi speed card reader/ writer

First you need to install the drivers. If you don't have installation CD, use some software like this: Driver Update Software for XP Vista 7 8. After update you will be able to operate properly.
Wish you best of luck

Program installed on Laptop Vista and will not find Reader/Writer

Uninstall it. Then Re-install it in "Compatability Mode for XP SP2" Also run it in "Administrator Mode". That is your only shot at making it go. It is NOT designed for Vista.

QUESTIONS:
is the reader writer a USB or parallel cord? (they have both.
If it's USB you need the 256K card otherwise the regular card, and yes it can work you just have to have the right card for your reader writer.
