Try tapping the motor area with a piece of wood or something, damp usage may have seized it up a bit

Shop vac doesn't work. Does my shop vac have a thermo fuse?

Contact the manufacturer of device. They may help you. If not, make sure that current is reaching the on/off switch and that the power is reaching the motor - if power gets to motor and still nada then the issue is probably with the brushes not making proper contact with the commutator.

The panasonic EComax light rollers not turning , belt is fine. filters are fine.. and even with power on nothing happens. switch is on carpet mode.

"belt is fine" . Not likely. Belts need replacing yearly. Just because it isn't broken doesn't mean it's working properly. Most vacs should be serviced annually. Take it to your local vac shop for service.

Hi Ashley,

This website has one for the 12/14/16 gallon vacs:
http://www.vacsrus.com/CartGenie/prod-1165.htm

If yours is a different size, write back and I'll see if I can find it for you. Hope the 4th one lasts a bit longer.....

Hope this helps. If it does, please place a vote for me. Thanks,

My Shop-Vac 5870400 was working just fine, and then one day while i vac the floor its just stop working, tried to turn on/off a few times, swicth to different outlet. i did even tried to open it, but found...

Same thing just happened to mine. My solution is to get another one but a different brand. I think it should have lasted longer than four years of fairly light usage. From what I read, if it does as we both described, the motor is shot and not worth replacing.

I have a shopvac model#86776-24. The toggle switch went bad and I'm looking for a replacement switch

I got a replacement switch at a local electronic supply store: Philmore Miniature Rocker Switch part number 30-043. Shop vac changed the switch recently to two push buttons from the old rocker style. This update works a lot better.

Seems to have proper suction but dirt is not reaching the bag? I have checked all the hoses and there is no blockage.

There may be a blockage on the inside of the vac. I have had this happen to me a couple of times. The first thing I try to do is to make sure the beater brush is turning. If it isn't turning the dirt will not go into the bag. The other thing to do is to take a shop vac or something similar with high suction and see if you can suction out your hose. There may be something so high up in it that you can't see it. The last thing I would try is to take apart the inside where the hose connects to the bag and make sure that nothing is up in there. Try the shop vac first....this has always worked for me.
Good luck.

Ridgid 16.5 gallon motor running with no suction

When you use the shop vac for cleaning up water you must remove the filter.

The filter is for dust particles not for water
I would replace your filter and dump the water out from the shop vac, Also after each time you vacuum up water dump it out of shop vac.

I hope this helped you happy new year!

Shop vac 90L400 stopped working won't start

I had the same problem with the same model. Turned out to be the thermal fuse on the motor housing, between the switch and the windings. Took it apart and replaced the melted solder with 14 guage copper wire. Works fine! No thermal protection but I don't use it for long at a time anyway. Check the switch for continuity, if good then check the thermal fuse for continuity. If good, it's the motor.

Hard to say without seeing it, is there a function type knob that you would switch from carpet to hose? Did the hose attachment lid close ok? Other then take, if this is new, it has a years warranty on it, just take it to a waranty shop for repair.
