Yes. Judging form the picture you bought the drive in the last year. Any SATA drive will work. I suggest tigerdirect.com . If you are doing video editing WDC WD3200BJKT-00F4T0 is a nice 7200 RPM drive. But, if doing HD video editing you should get a esata output card, run an esata cable directly to the external hard drive, and you will get a 3 gig transfer rate, which is quicker than the 400 megs a second firewire.

My Transcend StoreJet 500GB cannot be opened

Several things could be happening here:
1. your electronic controller in the hard case has failed.
2. you didn't properly disconnect the external hard drive in Windows > with the
"Safely Remove Hard ware and eject Media" in the task bar.
3. if you have a power supply to the USB drive it may have a damaged power connector or not supply proper power to the device.

I have a 453 GB Lap Top, 500GB Hitachi will not back, says no more space, I was told to delete all info on 500GB and do new back up, How do I delete info from 500GB?

Open up Windows Explorer (the file manager).

Right-click on the 500GB drive (drive D: or whatever it is) then click Format.

If it says the drive is in use, make sure you close all other Windows Explorer and Command Prompt windows and try again (worst case, reboot then try again).

Changing hard disk in sprite,How

replace hard drive formatted to FAT32. download the software from there web site put the files on the hard drive this is master drive. slave drive format to FAT32. make drive slave and install. can put max 500gb sata drives with converters any higher drives and risk the system to fail that is 2 500gb sata drives. ruffley 926gb or 982gb depending on what the drives are.

A clicking noise from a hard drive is a sign of a faulty hard drive.
That is why the computer does not see it.
The hard drive needs to be replaced.

LaCie drive does not come on

Maybe the usb chip in the hard drive enclosure that converts ide into usb failed. You could replace the enclosure (they sell enclosures at best buy) but it could be quite a hassle.
