Question about Computers & Internet

Hello, I have 2 problems with my lenovo laptop z61m, that is running IE8. But first please know that my wireless internet connection is very low and I may be booted offline. In which case please email any answers to 1. I am on the beach on vacation and I am having a low internet connection, therefore I went to the office center that our rv park provides to get better reception, however, the wireless internet is still very low, so I thought I would plug directly into a cat 5 cable. However my computer is not recognizing the cat 5 cable connection. I have tested the cat 5 connection on my daughter's computer and it works fine. Why isnt my computer recognizing a cat 5 connection? 2. I recently had a fan error occur on my computer and I had a tech fix the problem. However ever since I have had my laptop fixed... now when I type in a url in my internet exporer browser I am forced to type in www. in front of the address, where as before I could just type in for example... now i have to type in . This is annoying. How can I get it back to normal?

Test your CAT 5 cable on your laptop again, but first right-click your wireless icon, and click open network connections. Then right-click the LANconnection and click Enable. That should do the trick.

Why does connecting to an ad-hoc network disconnect the shared mobile broadband connection?

You can be connected to two signals at one time, if I understand your statement. My question is, why is your laptop automatically connecting to a Ad-Hoc network? Your wireless adapter Intel Wireless 3945A/B/G,settings should be scrutinized. Perhaps this will help:

Lenovo G550 running Windows 7 won't connect to internet. "Default gateway is not available" message displays. I have 4 Vista computers using wireless connections all functioning fine, but this...

Wow youve done almost everything here. How about the firewall? is it blocking any connections?

Next,Go to control panel, network and sharing center.Look and see if the pc or laptop in question is on the same network, meaning home or public.

Set all your machines to the same network.Either home or public.I do know this has been a win 7 problem.

Hi, I am unable to connect to a number of major websites, the main one being Adobe. I use Windows XP and mainly IE8 but have also tried Safari with no success. I also have a laptop running Vista and that...

1. Check your Firewalls/Security programs if it is blocking any websites.
2. Reset your IE8 back to default settings from "InternetOptions"

Hope it helps.

Wireless connection

You may have a physical switch on your laptop.
The following says that it may be hard to find but have a look at the front left edge of the casing.

Hi damirish I have also been experiencing problems with the Scan To Computer button. I am currently in dialogue with the HP "head technician" who is due to ring me tomorrow. I will let you know what my resolution is. Basically, my problem is that my network (I use a netgear router) and have one wired (XP Pro) and two wireless PCs connected to it - one Vista laptop and one XP laptop. For some strange reason, the wired PC is happily displaying the correct Scan to file, Word etc functions yet my two wirelessly connected (Not the the printer itself but via wireless router) PCs appear multiple times and when I try to scan something to these two laptops, I get all kinds of errors. Even after running the HP clean-up tools and rebooting and reinstalling the HP software (32 bit) I now am faced with problems whereby the C7180 is not even recognised by the HP "Solution Center". Sadly, despite it's marvellous printing quality, I am thinking this unit is going back to the HP factory for some serious overhauling. Again, I'll let you know if there is a resolution and hopefully HP will investigate why the Scan settings are so faulty. Regards Andrew from Adelaide, Australia
