EMachine W3623 Vista not accepting router

posted by lorengrah on Nov 05, 2007

My wife just purchased an eMachine W3623 with Vista Home Basic at Walmart last month.
eMachines W3623 Desktop PC w/ 17" LCD Monitor, Intel Pentium 4 processor 641 with Hyper-Threading technology

  • 17" widescreen LCD display
  • 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor 641
  • 512 MB RAM, 160 GB hard drive
  • DVD Burner, Windows Vista Home Basic
I wanted to network with two other eMachine computers already onlilne with Network Everywhere Router 401 by Linksys. Problem is Network Everywhere 401 router said it wasn't compatable with Vista and so her new computer won't go on line.

It is hooked up to the Internet Explorer but it still is not online.

I even purchased at Walmart a
Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G 54Mbps Broadband Router All-in-one Internet-sharing Router, 4-port Switch, and Wireless-G (802.11g) Access Point Wireless data rates up to 54Mbps -- 5 times as fast as Wireless-B (802.11b), but also interoperable with Wireless-B devices (at 11Mbps) , AND STILL NO INTERNET!

What do I do? Is there a Service Pack that needs downloaded or something?

Please help,

Frustrated dad

Ok i guess this is a noob place so ill just let you know, vista doesnt have a network compatability problem, the protocols that are used in most cases are tcp/ipv4, this is the standard for as long as i have been around, vista has and runs this protocol, it also has the tcp/ipv5 which is the new one that a lot of equipment is not compatable with yet.
